Anyone out there live in the boston area and interested in starting up a supper club? I live on the north shore but would be willing to come into the city if there are people interested. Let's start one up! -Becca
Where are you? I'm in Topsfield!

Beverly-we're neighbors! - Becca
Neato! Funny the people you "meet" through the internet, isn't it?

I would love to join in too! I'm from the Worcester area and would love to hook up with some fellow "foodies"

Let's set up some possible dates for a meal! I would love to meet you all and know of a number of other cooking light readers in the area who would love to join us!
Weekends tend to be better for me and dining on the earlier side is better (6ish)
Any suggestions?

I'd also be interested. I'm in Gloucester on most weekends starting in April but would also consider commuting up that way from Chelmsford.

Hi! What a great idea! I live in Jamaica Plain, but am willing to travel a bit for a good dinner. I'm single, so I would prefer a dinner party with other singles rather than couples, or a mix. Who's coordinating this?

How does April 20th or 21st sound to everyone? Should we find a good half-way point, or do people want to come here to beverly?

I'd love to join you all...I live in Boston but I see no problem in traveling a bit. Beverly is fine with me. Are you still planning on April 20th or 21st?

Hello!
How many people could do a saturday night dinner, say around 6 pm April 21st? Let's try to make this work- i think that it would be lots of fun. We can do it here in Beverly, or really anywhere-let me know where the best location would be for you all. -Becca

Hi everyone, I'd be interested in joining a supper club (I'm in Andover) and wondered 2 things -- 1)is there any room in the one that seems to be forming here? and 2) do I need any real cooking experience? I'm learning as I go along.
I look forward to hearing more. --Cathy

Hi everyone! Thanks for all of your interest. No-you do not have to have lots of cooking experience-we are just going to have fun experimenting with new recipes!
Let's just set the time for Saturday April 21 at 6 pm in Beverly at my house. For directions and more specifics you can e-mail me at rebeccaaverill@hotmail.com.
We can then figure out exactly how we want to do this and what we want to make! Can't wait.

Hi everyone, I've just logged on to this and was excited to see the info about the Supper Clubs. I'm wondering how large the group is and if there is room for one more whose passion is cooking. I realize I'm a late comer so maybe I could join the next club dinner. I also live north of Boson in Andover and a newcomer to New England. Would love to hear more. Thanks

Hi Yvonne!
Of course you can join in our group! We are just now in the process of forming and would love for you to join us.
I am rounding people up for the first dinner on the 21st in Beverly at my house. I am thinking that the dinner will be from the April issue, I thought that it might be fun to make some breads (I would be happy to do this as I work in a bakery) and serve the carrot-ginger soup, one of the salads, and a few of the veggie side dishes like the artichoke spinach tian and the marinated mushrooms. What do people think of that idea? I thought that it would be a simple and fun way to start out.
let me know soon and e-mail me with ideas!

Hello!
I responded on 04/01 but unfortunately, I've had a tough time getting back on line with the new phone numbers. I'm back again and want very much to be in the supper club. I looked last year and there was nothing in this area. I live in Salem, MA, love to cook and am seriously looking at personal cheffing as a part-time job. I've been reading Cookinglight for years. Very interested in breads. (making Naan bread today and olive and oregano Greek bread) also vegetarian dishes. I do eat meat, but want to make it less active in my diet. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hello everyone! My hotmail has not been working for the past few days so I thought that for now I would post on this bulletin board. I hope that everyone reads this! I figured that I would set out the menu on the board and you all can post what you would like to bring-so that everyone can see what others are bringing. I will compose an e-mail later with directions to my house and forward it to everyone.
The menu is just a proposal, it is not set in stone and I welcome suggestions or new dish ideas. I will make the breads and everyone else can claim a dish or bring a bottle of wine.
April Menu 4/21 6pm.
Assorted breads -sourdough, crusty cuban and french bread from April issue (these I've got covered)
Carrot-ginger soup
Artichoke-spinach tian
Chipotle Black Beans
Marinated Mushrooms
Cashew and Golden Raisin Biscotti served with sorbet or ice cream and fresh fruit
Do you think that we should have another more main-dish-type of thing? Any suggestions?
Sometimes it's fun to have a bunch of little things to go with the bread and soup- you all let me know.
Please post on here to let us all know what you're planning to bring and then we can get a good count. This will also help when planning how much food we need to make!!
Can't wait- looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hi Becca-
Is the idea here that we make stuff at our own homes and bring it (kind of like a more planned potluck)? I was trying to figure out how a big bunch of people would cook in a kitchen they're not familiar with! — Natalia

I guess that's what I thought would work the best- if we all make things and bring them to my house as a cooking light potluck. I just think that it would be way too difficult to have everyone trying to cook in one kitchen at the same time. Hope that this works for everyone!
Who's coming? I would love to get an idea!

Just wondering if things were still on for next saturday? Haven't heard much from people and I would love to know if people have decided not to join us or if another date would be better for people. I am willing to host the dinner even if it's just a few of us, but I want to just get an idea of how many to expect. If we postpone, let's think of a date and a system to organize this a bit better. Thanks -Becca

Becca-
I'm so sorry, but I'm afraid I can't make it as an unforseen event that requires my attendence will be taking place simultaneously. I REALLY wanted to go! If you reschedule, please count me in! I'm sure I'll be able to make it next time...
