Funny you should post this! I bought a swivel sweeper off the TV the other day, and I love it. I was going to come here and sing its praises. :) They have a ton of them on www.eBay.com for much better prices. I love it for the kitchen floor and low-pile carpet, but it does NOT work well on deep-pile.

Another vote for the swivel sweeper---love it. It maneuvers around things SO MUCH easier than the similar shark vacuum (which I quickly returned). Holds a long charge and cleans easily.

Another vote for the swivel sweeper. I couldn't believe how well it worked when I got it. I use mine in the kitchen.

Oooh, good to know! I'm looking for something for the classroom that I can use when kids tear the little fringies off their notebook paper or dump the contents of the hole punch on the floor.

I have a Eureka Cordless Quick Up. I've had it for almost 3 years with no problems. It came with 2 batteries, so there's always one set to go. It has hard floor and carpet setting, so I can even use it for quick pick ups on carpet ( although it's not great for heaving vacuuming on carpet ). The lady who cleans my house told me that she got one for herself she liked mine so much - so did my DM and DSIL as they did the same!

Never heard of the Swivel Sweeper. Sounds like people love it at first, then they realize its limitations. Hope y'all have better luck.

There are always people who hate/have a problem with every product out there. Ya just can't please everyone! I like mine and recommend it, but it's ultimately up to you.
My MIL bought us the Swiffer Sweeper and I really like it. We use it for daily quick clean-ups in the kitchen or bathrooms. I'm not sure how well it works for heavy duty cleaning. We keep ours in the laundry room plugged in so that its ready to go whenever we need it, and we've never run out of batteries. (According to some of the reviews I've read, one of the complaints is the short battery life.) My mother does not have a good location to keep hers plugged in and charging and therefore never uses hers.

I have the Eureka TerriA mentioned (downstairs) and a very similar DirtDevil version upstairs. They both work reasonably well for me. I think the Eureka picks up things a little bit better, but the dirt cup and filter on the DirtDevil are much easier to clean, so it is pretty much a tradeoff as far as I am concerned. Neither one of them (or really anything in this category) is going to do a fantastic cleaning job, but for just day-to-day touchups I am happy with them both.

Anyone who has one of these, eureka, swiffer, dirt devil... I'm looking for a lightweight vacuum that works (mostly) on hard floors ( hardwood, tile ) for crumbs, cat hair, loose dirt. I'm tired of hauling out the canister vacuum for every little thing. Do I want one of these?

I have the same question. I'm really more concerned with leaving this in our bathroom for a quick clean up of my long hair all over the floor when I'm finished blow drying it. TIA

Kabs, do you have to use those Swiffer sheets with the battery operated vacuum?
Teri and Claire, I'll check out both the Eureka and Dirt Devil.
Thanks!

I got one at Black & Decker outlet. It does floors and carpets I got several fliters. Just got gold rechargeable batteries. I don't know the name but its B & Decker.Long handle and you click once for floors twice for carpets. It does a great quick job at cleaning up carpets floors etc.

Yep, you need the swiffer sheets. We usually get 2-3 uses out of one sheet (especially if I turn them over and use the opposite side).

Valerie, I think you would probably like it for quick touchups. My cleaning lady does a really good job with the big vacuum on the carpet, and a broom and mop on the the hard floors, each week, so all I am ever doing is picking up all the bits and pieces that hit the floor every day. However, with 2 kids and a full menagerie of animals that is quite a lot, and I rarely have to use anything other than the stick vacs on either the hard floors (mostly hardwood, some tile) or the carpet. It is so easy just to pull it out and switch it on, without even having to unwind a cord and find a convenient plug. My kids (7 and almost 10) are responsible for doing it each day (one downstairs and one upstairs). It only takes them about 5 minutes each.

thanks! I had no idea these were so inexpensive. I just looked at the Target website and will be picking up one of these in a day or two. I love my canister vac but it's overkill for a few toast crumbs on the floor. Plus, I just got rid of 1000 sq ft of worn out carpet and replaced it with tile so I can get by with less horsepower.

We too have the Swiffer Sweeper Vac. I love it. I have an old home with all hardwood floors and couldn't stand sweeping them anymore. The swiffer picks up all the dirt and all the human and pet hair stuck on my floors, which is a huge bonus. The only downside is the charged life of the swiffer. I charge it over night and then am able to clean half of my 1st floor. I charge it again and clean the other half and the stairs and usually charge again to finish the house...but I have a 3800 sq. foot old house with no carpet and two sets of stairs, so it's a large area to use the swiffer on. It's battery life is probably made to clean only a room or two at once. I've never used it on carpet. It doesn't scratch my floors and it picks up more than a broom or the swiffer without the vac did.

I am considering getting it after reading this swivel sweeper review (http://steammopspot.blogspot.com/2009/07/as-seen-on-tv-swivel-sweeper-g2-review.html). It seems that most people complain about the battery life. From what others have said it looks like you can pick up batteries cheap at Ebay. I'll post back with my results.

I have a Swivel Sweeper & I think the battery life so far has been very good. A lot better than the Shark cordless sweeper that I had before I got the swivel. That thing was a total dog.

Funny seeing one of your own old threads. I bought the Eureka that Terri mentioned. Been using it for 2 years now. It's great for quick pickups in the kitchen and keeping room every morning.

Okay, this is sort of a strange first post....
But since we are updating the thread I bought the dirt devil broom vac and I'm happy enough with it. What hair it doesn't pick up at least gets caught in the bristles.

Two weeks ago I bought a Hoover Linx stick vac and love it! It is expensive ($175 - but you can use a 20% coupon at BB&B) but well worth it. The battery pops out so you can charge the battery easily. I use it almost daily for the kitchen floors and rug in the family room (very low pile rug). It doesn't get into corners well but is great with everything else. I don't think it would handle well on a high pile rug though. Some people complained about the battery length but I don't find that its a problem. I can do most of the first floor in one charge (which is more than I usually want to do) and I leave the battery charging when not in use.
