I am going to be in Seattle at the end of August and have been PM-ing with misskitty about meeting. Anybody else up for a get-together?
I'll be there pretty much all day the 31st and most of the 1st as well. I'm up for either day.

I would love to join in on the fun, if only to just meet everyone. :)

So if you do it on the 1st there will be simultaneous klatches going on, one in Seattle and one in Houston. Should we see how many more we can get together on the same day? :p :D

Robyn, I didn't know there was one going on in Houston. Of course, I probably wouldn't have opened the thread anyway, since I don't have any plans to go to TX anytime soon ;)
DmOrtega, great that you'll join us :)
I think it would be fun. I will try to make it as well.

My plans are not definite, but I will likely be leaving Seattle/Tacoma sometime on the 31st. If it works better for the 1st that is okay, but I probably won't be able to make it.

I don't know if I'd be able to make it for sure, but I'd like to tentatively include myself in! :) I think it would be fun to meet some actual real people from the BB. I live north of Seattle. I think the 1st would be better for me, but since I don't know for sure if I can come, I'll just accomodate whatever day you all choose.

September 1st? Hmm - that would be cool! I'm not sure if I should/could or not (I'd also have the kids with me) but I'll keep an eye on this. :)

Suzy :) Thank you for the PM to let me know!!! That first Seattle meeting was how many years ago?.... hmmm, I think 5? Maybe we'll finally get to meet this time! I did get to meet sweet DmOrtega then.
Well, at this point my calendar looks fine for both days. Yeah, on FriDAY I'd be weighted with kids too (Suzy - did you know I had a baby girl?!), but evening or Saturday I might be able to leave them with dad.
Eh, whatever works for the two of you. If I can come I'd love to hop a ferry and meet up with you.
So, what are you doing in Seattle? Baseball?

No, but only because there are no home games those days ;)
But really I am going there to take my son to the airport to fly him back to college :( . The disadvantage of us living by a smallish airport and his college being by a smallish airport is that flights directly from our city to his are outrageously expensive. I am saving over $400 by making the 4.5 hour drive to fly him out of SeaTac. I said for $400 I could get a hotel, pay for my gas, see an M's game and eat at the Metropolitan Grill! Well, turns out no M's on this trip, but I plan to do some shopping and hopefully meet some nice people :)

It's also Bumbershoot (http://www.bumbershoot.org/) weekend, if you are interested.

Okay, I just made my reservations to come home and I depart SeaTac at 2:55 on the first so I could meet either day. I am finished up at DD's school around 3:00 (she is in Tacoma) on the 31st. I am pretty sure I will be able to borrow my niece's car Friday evening or could meet early Sat (around 9:00 or so) for coffee. I will get details as to where I am staying because I am staying with my niece, but I can't remember the name of the town in which she lives.

yay Laura!!! I am up for either day, but on the 31st my son will be with me so I will likely be wanting to spend the day with him b/c I won't see him again until Christmas :( .
Maybe we could all meet for brunch on the 1st? Although I lived in the area for several years, I think a current local could probably think of a meeting place better than I could.

I just need to make sure that I am at the airport by 1:30. I will know more as my niece will be dropping me off there, so I need to know how far she is from SeaTac and where she generally lives so I can give you all an idea of where I am going to be.

Yup, June 2002. Can you believe it's been that long??

Is there somewhere near the ferry that's open for brunch? (I haven't been over there much yet so I'm not really sure what's in walking distance).

Hmmm...I don't know if there is but seems like there should be. You mean the Coleman dock, right?
The Edgewater Hotel has great breakfasts but not sure what your criteria for walking is -- it would be several blocks but still on the waterfront. It might also be a little pricy since it is a hotel restaurant.

Just an update... I will be staying in Covington. I have no idea where that is, but that is where I will be. :)

Laura, that is near Kent and Maple Valley, I think, which is south King county. Pretty near where I used to live :)

just bumping this back up to see if we should start thinking about where to meet.
It looks like a Saturday morning breakfast/lunch/brunch might be the best time. Maybe we could meet somewhat close to the airport so Laura will have time to make it there?
I know the Anthony's in Des Moines is not too far but I don't think they have Saturday brunch. I have been to the Edgewater but probably 15 years ago, so I don't know much about parking, prices, etc.
Hey! I just saw that Salty's on Alki has a Saturday brunch.......opens at 9am? Does anybody want to go there? The view of the city is great :)

ETA: Opps....sorry, I just saw your post about Salty's that would be MUCH more preferable to someplace in Southcenter.

My post above turned out weird...and I am not sure why.
For some reason, when I edited it, the part I added shows up in the original body of Boises message???
Salty's is a great suggestion. They have TONS of food and the best view in Seattle.

That is weird! Took me a minute to figure out what you said :)
Hopefully Salty's will work for everybody. I haven't been there in probably 8 years.
