In June we bought a new car, had the old driveway, porch, and sidewalk torn out and replaced. DD#1, her DH, and their 2 boys arrived for their visit. When DH went to start the grill that night. it wouldn't light. We borrowed the neighbors and bought a new one the next day. It's huge and powerful-6 burners, stainless. The following week the oven went on an F1!I knew it wasn't good so I resisted the urge to call Sears. We got along just fine with grill[I roasted 2 turkey breasts and dressing one night-delish and finished off Nigella's ham another night:) ] I called Sears and I must be clairvoyant because it was going to cost $455.00 to fix the board on a 7 year old stove. He even had the nerve to say well your machune is 7 years old. I hate those computers. Anyway, I bought a new stove yesterday. It won't be delivered until next Tuesday. It has a slowcook option, a 5th burner that can also be used as a grill, and a 5 year maintenance plan! Oh, I didn't mention the roof, did I? Well, gloryoski, the insurance is going to replace it! Geesh. It's enough.:)

Yikes!
We have been doing improvements to our house. We have it up for sale so we are trying to do things as inexpensively as we can, but at the same time choosing things that are nice and that we like because if we don't get an offer we'll end up staying!
7 years doesn't sound like a long time---shouldn't a stove last longer than that?

Well, one would think so. My other stoves lasted 17 and 15 years. It's the

omputer board that makes it so expensive to fix.

When it rains it pours. I feel for you. We have had issues also. We are in the middle of some renovations so that is costly but then the washer broke and then the fridge died. Then the next week the vacuum went. The previous month my dog got sick and had to have surgery which was a couple grand and then my Mom's washer broke and then my brother had to have a new hot water tank installed along with a new frig. (15 years old). We feel like we have a black cloud hanging over us. Another day in the life of homeownership.

I totally feel your pain. We closed on the new house in June and the same week, dh's car decides it has no more life in it, so ended up having to buy a new car that week too, completely unplanned. I'd say I hope we're done for now, but with new house comes a whole slew of other purchases ...

DH had to have a stress test, and the results (which were fine, according to the cardiologist) caused our doc to send him to a pulmonologist and a urologist. One dog was in ICU for a weekend, I had poison ivy, both dogs have kennel cough. One of the dogs has meds that cost ~ $100/month! We had a lightning strike which fried my computer, modem and the router, as well as the intercom. My car had a radiator leak, and needed freon in the a/c -- it also needs tires. DH's car has the check-engine light on, but the diagnostic machine was out of order.

There, I think that's all!:p
