Are those red folders a figment of my imagination?

Hi, Maelynn.

Just wondering if I'm going crazy. I spend most of my time in the Great Food Forum. Earlier today (I think I was on AOL)- about noonish EST - I noticed that the red folders were back (with the legend stating that red folders were new posts since last logging on. Now I'm on again (this time Compuserve) and they and the legends are not there. Surely I'm not crazy, right? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif

I love the new boards, but have been begging for a way to see if there's been a new post since we've last read - not since we've last logged in. Is this at all possible? I know that everything is going to take time, and I know you're working on why posts are disappearing. Thankfully, I haven't really run into that problem too much.

I'm sure everything will get worked out in time. You guys seem to be on the ball. Thanks.

I wish I could duplicate what you are seeing. I'll be checking on it, however, as soon as I can. Perhaps it is an AOL interface thing. Not sure yet.

I sure would like to see those red folder though. I'll keep you up-to-date on my progress.

Shirley, I've finally been able to duplicate the red folders! Here's what they look like for those who haven't seen them...

Well, I've figured out that seeing them depends upon when you ACTUALLY logged on last. In your preferences, if you choose to let your username and password to be stored on your hard drive, that puts a Cookie on your computer. Everytime you come into the boards, they look for that cookie. That cookie basically tells the boards that you are already logged on. Which is why most people don't ever see the red folders. Only those that have preferences set to not automatically read the username and password will see the red folders.

Sometimes your cookies get reset on their own and that's why you see red folders only on occasion.
