Anyone working out?

I had to work all weekend and this afternoon, too, but I did get in some yoga this AM as well as 35 min on the TM. Also took the dog for a long walk when I got home this evening.

I wore my pedometer to work on Sunday, and I had over 11,000 steps by the end of the day. Forgot to wear it Saturday, but it was even busier, so I am sure I got in at least the same if not better.

How about you?

I walked for a couple hours through the parade of homes yesterday but I was so achy yesterday I decided to take today off completely. I'm hoping to feel good enough to ride in tomorrow but we'll see.

Thanks for getting us started, Kathy! 11,000 steps is great:)

Robyn, I hope the "achies" go away quickly.

Sunday I rode the bike (about 8 miles) and this morning I went to 6:00 strength training class. The instructor kept us moving the whole time so it was strength with some cardio. I am needing to shake my routine up a little, so I might start going to this class more often, even though I hate getting up at 5:15:o

Well, I rode in today and didn't feel quite as bad as I thought I might. Although, it's going to be a scorcher this afternoon so I'll need to really hydrate before I leave for my ride. I came in a different way and may go home that way as it may have more shade on it than going through the state park. I didn't feel achy last night which was good.

Sheila, good job on the ride and the class. I can never motivate for classes that early.

Kathy, sorry, I was a bit tired last night but good job on the yoga and TM. Where do you work?

Hi Robyn and Sheila! :)

Glad to hear you were feeling better during your ride this AM, Robyn. I hear you about the shade thing.....I am all about that these 90-100 degrees days, whether I am working out or just walking into a building! I work on a 27 bed unit in a local hospital, and it is pretty large from one end to the other (we have 3 nursing stations!). Some days I am the charge RN (like this past weekend), and I get a lot of walking in going from one end to the other checking on people and helping out. Good thing, because I rarely do any other exercise on days that I work.

Sheila, your weight workout sounds like one I would enjoy. I don't do weights as often as I should, and that is partly because it doesn't feel like as much as a workout with all the pauses and rests between sets. We have a new community center opening up in December, and I am hoping they will have some good classes.

Today I did yoga, followed by a 3 mile run. Walked the dog to cool down. Now I am off to chase after 4 yo nephew for the rest of the morning.

Stay cool! :)

<waving arms> I'm back into the water aerobics, after having guests for the weekend! During the times we were marinating in the lake with the guests, I was running in the lake, doing core balance exercises and some ab exercises... and nobody noticed!;)

<more waving arms> I'm here, too! Good going on the variety of different types of exercise, everyone. I still can't imagine those bike rides at all.

I worked out with weights on Sunday and then rushed to the gym tonight to go to a cycling class. I thought it started at 6:15. Nope, there was some "pre-class" class that started at 5:45. I ended up doing a combined class that lasted 1.5 hours! This is after riding to/from Columbia and sitting all day in a class. It's official: I'm exhausted.

Who's left to post?

I rode home and took a slightly longer route and nearly got killed again. Across the street from my apartment. There's a tough T intersection where just off center is a driveway from my apartment complex. Well, a girl in a car was in that driveway and there is a sign that says they yield to ALL traffic on the streets. Well, she didn't yield and came feet from taking me out. She slammed on brakes, I stopped and it caused mass confusion with other traffic that had to stop since there were two of us stopped mid street. I really do enjoy riding to work and home but there are so many stupid drivers out there it totally baffles me since I saw no fewer than 15 other cyclists on the road on my way home. It's not like I'm the only one out there.

Anyhow, total of 90 minutes of exercise today. My toe has really been bothering me and I thought it was due to a purple toe nail from skiing but that has finally grown out and I'm still in pain so now I think it's ingrown. I've made an appointment for Monday to have it dealt with so next week I'll probably be out of luck for much cardio so maybe I'll try to get into the weight room. But, I have to get this taken care of before ski season. ;) :D

Hi, all! This morning I did yoga and weights. I am working this afternoon, but I will probably walk the dog this evening, too. Every little bit helps, right?

Robyn, what causes the purple toenail? That happened to me, too, when we went skiing for the first time in the spring. I could tell it was happening, but I didn't know what to do to prevent it. My ski boots were as tight as I could get them, and as near as I could tell they were a good fit. I figure my foot should look normal again by the time we go back next spring!

Kay, pretty nice when you can exercise while socializing and no one is the wiser. Now THAT's the way to workout! :)

Melanie, I'll bet a 1.5 hour workout felt great after sitting in class for so long. Hope you got a good rest afterwards!

Anyone else want to report? Jump right in!

For me it's usually that my toenail is a bit too long so as I hit the front of my boot it causes the bruising. I'm the same way with the grow out, it's just now totally grown out after happening in November. As far as boot fit, you don't want to be TOO tight. Your toes should just touch the front of the boot when standing in it but your foot shouldn't feel cramped. I had one guy fit me in a boot a full size too small, I told him my toes were crammed against the boot and he said it was supposed to. Umm, no, if my foot is starting to cramp in the 2 minutes I'm in this boot because my toes are curled up that is not normal. When I bought my boots I went to no fewer than 6 different boot fitters and shops and not one of them put me in the same boot.

This morning was Pilates DVD, since I had to get DS2 down to the foothills for X-C practice. I could have walked there, but I didn't want to embarass:p DS by hiking the same trail the kids were all running. So I ran to Target for some stuff for his out-of-town camp this weekend, and a latte for myself:)

I'm here doing back to back posts (I sure hope I didn't kill the thread;) ) to say that I got up this morning and hit the 6:00 class - yay! Today she had us doing circuits with dumbbells/body bars and the stability balls - it was great:)

Anyone else working out?

Sheila

Way to go getting to the early class, Sheila. Glad to hear it was worth it!

Good job on your hour in the water, Kay!

I did yoga this AM, then went swimming with DD and the church youth group this evening. It wasn't exactly a structured workout :D , but I got in a fair amount of activity!

(See, Sheila, the thread lives on.....! :p )

Great exercising, everyone. I'm here to kill the thread. :D

I did 40 minutes on the treadmill last night and 35 minute on The Wave tonight. No cardio tomorrow...it's time for Friday night yoga!!!!

I dare you...go ahead and post... :p

Ha! I'll meet that dare!:D I'm doing rigorous folding of laundry, today, and cleaning bathrooms and making beds!:p

I'll bet it felt great to get all of THAT done, Kay!

Melanie, I did the same as you, 40 min of TM this AM. I don't love the TM, but it sure is convenient some days when I am in a hurry! Also did some yoga early today, and I suppose the dog and I will walk at some point after dinner. (He is SO demanding!!)

Friday night yoga was wonderful. I think someone's been promoting this class. It was VERY crowded.

I just finished mowing the yard and using the gas blower to clear off everything. I'm done for the day. It's hot. It's muggy. I have no plans to sweat again today!!!! :D PS...I'd officially like to say I'm completely tired of summer. I'm tired of the grass being crunchy. I want rain. I want cooler temps. I hate this weather. ARrghhh!!

Who wants to post? (Complaining about the weather will be allowed. :D)

Sorry to hear about your heat and humidity, Melanie. It's been hot here, too, but it has been cooling off at night so I've been able to deal with it. Hopefully you'll get some relief soon...

This morning DH and I took the dog to the greenbelt and walked for a little over an hour. It was nice to have time to talk, and the dog loved it! She is now zonked out for a nap:)

At least your yard should be looking good, right? Yea for great yoga classes!

A walk with your DH sounds like a nice Saturday AM workout, Sheila!

Our temps are still high, but this week the morning lows are all supposed to be back in the 70's (that's down from the 80's), so today I got out for about 3 miles.
