The snails in my aquarium are moving faster....

I saw your note about the board being down for about 12 hrs. to move to another server, but I am assuming that is now over, and I'm still at a crawl. I was not one who had complaints about speed earlier on, but I do now. I have not been able to get to the board much for a couple of weeks, and as slow as it's moving, I can't read past notes and get caught up.

It seems like everything slows down when the number of posts gets up near 5000, and we're over 6000 now. It doesn't really seem like we need to keep that many messadges that long when the archive lists are available. Perhaps this is all set to be dealt with after this change is put into place, but just wanted to find out if the snail pace should improve.

thanks for the good question. The performance of the site and boards should improve. Please let me know when you finally see an improvement in speed on the boards.

The total number of posts no longer affect the speed because when you look at a thread now, there is a limit as to how many posts you will see at any one time (35 I think) whereas before, you could see 200 posts on a single thread - which caused slow-down problems.

I'll investigate further and let you know if I get any concrete info on when the site will start to speed up.

Tonight I went to the homepage before coming here. I scouted some of those recipes and noticed it taking 3-4 minutes to load the next page. Ugh! But the snails are no longer moving faster. After another population explotion, I am removeing them. If that's any consolation.
