UGH !! So it's been a full filled day here in PA, it's about 57 degrees, cool, damp, raining for three days now.....you get the picture...Nice Augsut day ....so, I'm at the grocery store with my 18 year old son, picking up a few things to send him off to college on Friday (BOO HOO, that's antoher thread:mad: )....anyway, I'm at the check out and the little twinky behind the cash register asked me if I get the Discount today, so I said, OH, wow what discount are you having today, all excited to think I might save a buck today !!!! WRONG, she said you know it's Tuesday, we have the senior citizen discount today!!!!! I asked her, ok, how old do you have to be???? Her reply, 55!!! OMG  Now 55 is not old, but I am nowhere near 55, I'm only 45! Pissed me off, and there's my son bagging our groceries and snickering!!!! $%^#*@
Dumb founded, I asked the twinkie Do I LOOK 55??
****Making mental note, never shop on Tuesday again* *******
Just made my miserable day a tad more miserable, but my son sure thought it was funny. The little twinkie said, oh I just have to ask all of our customers today if they get the discount! Yeah, right ***** !!
:( arghhhh Praying for some sunshine tomorrow!!!
Well, since I'm on a roll, here is some insight into shopping with my son..I have not been in a grocery store with my son in about 4 years......... For his dorm I wanted to stock him up on snacks, cereal and such. He wouldn't make out a list, so I asked him to go with me and pick out what he wanted to take to college. I finally got him to go the store with me today.
This is what he bought: (I am not kidding!)

1 eigth pack box of pop tarts
1 case of 24 bottlese of water
3 eigth packs of gum
1 eight pack of granola bars

That's it!!! Is it me or what???? I don't plan on seeing him again until Thanksgiving!
Then he couldn't understand what I was getting mad about.
(Notice no twinkies on the list! lol ) Debralynn :)

I'll trade sunny and 98 for cool, rainy and 57! That would cheer both of us up. :D

The girl needs to learn to shut her mouth if she's not sure! My mom just turned 55 and I told her she needs to start asking for the discount so they card her. :p :D

Me too.

My DD made a comment the other day about me and Grandma being the same age . Of course, she's only 3, and so everyone is "old" to her. ;)

That happened to DH and me at "Sweet Tomatos", only the little tart didn't even ask. We wondered why our bill was less than usual. My DH was p!ssed.:D

I couldn't believe they card you in Georgia no matter what age you are. When it first happened to me I looked at the cashier and said "You're kidding, right?" I guess it's a small price to pay for my wine.:p

Hope your day gets better!

When I was 34, a young mom at my work asked me if I had any grandkids!  I told her, "No, I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old." I'm not sure who was more shocked. :D

Yeah! I hate it when they assume that I'm old enough for the discount...even though I am!

The binkie (that's a BOY twinkie) at the bank opened our account as Silver Service. When DH said we weren't 55 binkie said, "well, close enough."

Wonder how "close" he thought we were. I was 40 at the time.

Now, I almost qualify (3 more years) :p

That would make me mad too to have somebody assume my age! And...send me immediately to the chocolate to cheer me up.

Debralynn--So sorry to hear she assumed your age!! And your son will figure out soon enough that what you bought today won't last!!

On a lighter note--Last year (when I was 34), we went out to dinner with 4 other families from our neighborhood. 10 adults in total. We all ordered "adult beverages" and I GOT CARDED !!! Yippeee! As my friends laughed at me for getting carded I said.....I guess since none of you got carded, she must have had no doubt as to your ages!! ;) :D
