Does anyone else have this problem?
Last night I was mixing ground meat for meatballs and I had terrible pain in my hand, then arm and chest. I NEVER have any other chest pain at any other time. This has happened from time to time during my adult life but yesterday was killer. What is this?

It might be Raynaud's Phenomenon (http://arthritis.webmd.com/tc/Raynauds-Phenomenon-Topic-Overview).

I'm thinking that you probably just hit a nerve in just the right way, and a electrical message was sent through your nervous system.
Now, if this keeps happening on a continual basis, it could be something more, and if they pain doesn't go away for long periods of time, I'd definitely ask a doctor about it.
I've experienced painful hand while mixing extremely cold ground meat, but the pain has never travelled up my arm.
I think I would ask a dr. about it next time I was there.

I get TERRIBLE pain in my hands when handling frozen or very cold stuff. It's awful. But they have never gone up my arms or into my chest either.
I don't know what that would/could be, but I would ask too.

Thanks you all. It's good to know that I'm not the only one. I will ask the doc next time I'm in. Thank you cangoss for your great web sleuthing.

My brother had that same kind of problem and was diagnosed with Raynaud's.

I have experienced that, as has my DH when handling very cold things. I always attributed it to the cold/frozen item cooling the blood in my hand and I could feel it as it travelled up my arm. It never got to my chest, and it always goes away when I wash my hands with warm water, or even put the cold item down.
