My Blog is developing a good little cult following of my shop customers and people who've found it searching on keywords. I've read a bit about Google's AdSense and curious if anyone uses it or a similar service. From what I understand they take topics of interest pertaining to your blog and post ads from their own advertisers that fit the general audience and then pay you based on exposure. But I'd like to see some examples of a Blog that uses this to see how intrusive or even relevant the ads are, and how the compensation works. Do they pay purely on blog hits or is it just hits from unique users? Do you think it is worth it? Any advice is appreciated, Thanks!

I didn't respond because I thought you'd get other, more experienced answers. Since no one has responded so far, I'll tell you what little I know.

I tried AdSense on my blog, but pulled them. For one, you have to have a lot of traffic to get any money out of it. They don't send you a check until you reach a certain amount - I forget how much. I get about 200+ visitors a day - not enough to make any money from ad revenue.

As far as I know, you get money not from number of visitors, but from visitors clicking on the ads.

One thing I did not like is that Google kept putting ads up that I did not like. I wanted them to be mostly food related, but I kept getting generic ads that I really didn't want on my blog.

I decided to get rid of them since it wasn't worth possibly ticking off what few readers I had since I wasn't building up much money anyway.

You can always try it, see how much money comes in and then decide if it's worth having. It's pretty easy to set up and then get rid of.....

Hope that helps a little. :)

Thanks, Alysha that's EXACTLY the kind of info what I was looking for. I don't even get 200 hits a day maybe 200 TOTAL but you know, I am always planning for when I get discovered by Oprah or something, LOL.

Yeah, even at 200-250 per day, I was making like .10 a day and maybe once in a while as much as .50. Um, yeah, not gonna get rich off of that! ;)

My friend has her own website that has been a great success for her and she makes something like $300 per month! Not sure if that includes sponsors who pay for spots on her site or if that's just Google's AdSense.

I have it but I'm taking it off.

My blog is a food blog and the last ad I saw is how to lose 25 lbs in 5 minutes.

I confess I clicked that one. It was a miracle diet tea.

See, that's the kind of crap I hated seeing. You can block specific sources, but as soon as you block one, a different one pops up and it's a losing battle.

25 pounds in 5 minutes.........that must be some kind of record for ridiculous diet claims!
