I know there was a thread about red paint, but I'm looking for green!

I have a very open floor plan, with high ceilings, and I'll be using this sagey green color in the foyer (two story), upstairs hall, kitchen and family room.

It's a lot of space, so I don't want anything that will get old, fast. I think I would like a lighter color than going too bold.

Anyone have a light green they really like? I like Benjamen Moore or Sherwin Williams paints. TIA!

My old dining room was Ben Moore Flowering Herb. I loved it-check it out!(I wish I had a pic but I don't)

Hi Lauren!

I'm a big fan of Benjamin Moore paints too.

Here's a link to their colors: http://www.benjaminmoore.com/bmpsweb/portals/bmps.portal?_nfpb=true&_windowLabel=sidebarportlet_1_3&sidebarportlet_1_3_actionOverride=%2Fbm%2Fcms%2FCo ntentRenderer%2FselectSideBarArticle&sidebarportlet_1_3WT.ac=Color+Samples&sidebarportlet_1_3NodeUUID=%2FBEA+Repository%2F960 02&_pageLabel=fh_findproducts

If you click on 2007 Trends, I think the color Kittery Point Green might match what you're looking for. There are more choices if you go to Full Palette.

Have fun! I think picking out colors is the most fun. :)

We have a sage green in one of our bathrooms...I believe (90% sure) ours is by Ralph Lauren. We got it at home depot. I really like it. What I love most is a new shower curtain and a few accessories and I've been able to completely change the look of our bathroom a couple of different times now for about $50 each time.

I'll double check with hubby about the brand when he gets home.

Hi Lauren,

We are enjoying "Koi Pond," a Sherwin Williams color. It's in our foyer and carries through into our kitchen. I had selected the Ruskin Room Green, initially; however, when we put it on the wall, it was too dark. Koi Pond is really soothing. Good Luck! Kim

This color is lighter than what I think of as sage. It's Benjamin Moore's "Soft Fern" and we used it in our last house. It goes with everything and is restful and airy. I was going to link to the color on their website, but on my monitor it didn't really look like the actual paint. You can get little sample packs of Benjamin Moore's colors to try out before making a decision.

i think one wall and ceiling should always be pianted a lighter than-others color to keep a room looking open, however beautiful/light the main color is.

We used a color called "Winter Garden". It's a Frazee paint color, but our painter likes Glidden, so he got the color from the Frazee paint chip and had Home Depot mix it with Glidden paint.

Anyway, it's kind of a neat color. When the room is darker, such as in the evening or morning with only lamps on, it has a nice sagey green color. When the room is brightly lit, like during the day, it looks more goldish. Almost like 2 colors for the price of one.
We painted the trim and ceiling a rich, creamy white color. Goes really well together.

Another vote for Kittery Point Green, such a pretty color. Silver Sage by Sherwin Williams is a classic sage color -- Restoration Hardware made that one famous.

We just painted our downstairs Nantucket Gray, also by Benjamin Moore. It is an absolutely beautiful color, although more gray than green. Good luck!

Thanks all! Lots of colors to check out. I have the SW color deck (is that what it's called?) but have to get the BM one.

Yep, that's what it is called. (http://community.cookinglight.com/showpost.php?p=1156555&postcount=7)

Keep in mind that the color of your wall paint is greatly affected by the lighting that you have and the color of your floor.

I just painted my kitchen cabinets "Cathedral Grey" by Ralph Lauren. I'm really liking it, it's a soft, sage green, but more gray than pastel. I didn't want a pastel shade.

Now on to the suede paint challenge. I want one wall in the suede finish. Any experience? Maybe a topic for another thread.

I found a wonderful color called "Silver Sage" at Restoration Hardware. If you don't have a store locally you can check out the color on their website. It is a subtle greenish gray color. Very beautiful - I got tons of compliments on the color when I painted my bathroom.

We used Benjamin Moore Mistletoe in our family room. It looks more gray in the picture, but it's a very nice sagey green, IMO.

If you think you might like this color, I suggest that you buy the sample and then have your local paint store match it for you. A gallon of Silver Sage at Restoration Hardware cost $32.00 or $36.00 depending on the finish.

I love the gray-green colors. They go with everything and calm my over busy brain.

I buy a quart...and paint on posterboard and tack those up and live with it for a few days to see how I like the color in different lights.

Often times I end up playing with colors and then when I ahve it jsut the way I want it I go to the paint store and have them matchit.

Have fun.

Quarts can be pricey. Most major paint retailers now have samples for sale. If your going to paint the wall anyway, don't be afraid to go ahead and paint your samples on the wall. You'll get a better representation of what the paint will look like.

those little samples are great but they don't come in very many colors. I am so fussy and it takes a while to choose just the right color so painting on the wall ends up looking schmutzy with patches all over the place.

a quart is not so pricey when you compare it to making a mistake with a huge space, and having to paint it over again cause you hate it.

I've had custom colors made from them. ;)

Benjamin Moore sells 260 different color samples in small jars.

Guess just not where I buy my paint. they have no where near that many.

at either the paint store or the hardware store.

260 colors avaialbe? Do they sell them from a web site?

I am in the middle of a project now and the little jar I got was not enough for me to mess with!

Benjamin Moore has their own stores, you should look to see if they have a location where you live.

They sell from this (http://www.benjaminmoore.com/bmpsweb/portals/bmps.portal?_nfpb=true&_windowLabel=portletInstance_2&portletInstance_2_actionOverride=%2Fbm%2Fcms%2FCon tentRenderer%2FrenderContent&portletInstance_2WT.svl=1&portletInstance_2currentNodeUUID=%2FBEA+Repository %2F8002&portletInstance_2NodeUUID=%2FBEA+Repository%2F9600 2&_pageLabel=fh_home) website. Your best bet, if you live close to a Benjamin Moore dealer, is to go there and look at the samples on paper to get a better idea what the color looks like. The color will look different on a computer screen.

A bottle cover 75 sq. ft., so you will get to paint a fairly large portion of your wall.
