Hello Tech Support Staff :-),
Following is a message I posted on the Great Foods Forum as well. Thanks :-)
<p>
"Hi all :-)
I'm a new poster and would first like to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed reading through the posts for some time. I lurked for a while before getting up the nerve to sign on as a member and post my first question. I've subscribed to CL magazine for a few years now and the site is a wonderful addition to the magazine. Visiting this forum has provided me with hours of entertainment, great tips, suggestions for recipes to try in the CL magazine, and inspiration to continue my quest for a healthier lifestyle. So, Thank You!
Now, about my question; (perhaps I should have e-mailed CL, but I'm not sure of there address-forgive me if this has been handled in the archives, or if I am crossing any boundaries by asking a non-food-related question) do any of you get a virus alert when the CL homepage loads? I keep getting the message every time I load the page. It always references the "button_small[1].gif" as being infected with the MtE virus. I've contacted Norton's re: the MtE virus and they assured me that a ".gif" file can't contain that type of virus. My computer appears unaffected. It's just an annoyance each time I come for a visit -(also scares the begeezus out of me when the computer beeps and the blue screen flashes! LOL) Thanks for the listen. :-)"

crazycook-
First - let me confirm that your software is correct - a GIF file itself cannot contain a virus. Also, the homepage of our site, does download anything to your hard drive that would/could contain a virus or harm your computer's hardware or software.

This is also the first time I've heard of this specific problem with our site which leads me to believe that it is something that is unique to your computer's system, software, configuration, or your browser, or some type of conflict with your virus detection software and something in your browser. It could be a bug of some type.

I will continue to keep my eyes and ears open and let you know if I find anything new on this problem.

Thanks.

Maelynn

Hi Maelynn!

Thank you for your response. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif I have skirted around the problem by setting up a shortcut to the main forum page as suggested very kindly by two other posters. I appreciate you looking into this for me and for keeping it in your thoughts. I enjoy this board too much to give the site up. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
