Got my doppler from www.bellybeats.com and it truly was the best $25 I ever spent (monthly rental). My dh found the heartbeat in literally seconds. Huge peace of mind and well worth it.
Other than that, all is ok here at 16 weeks, 6 days. Went last Friday for a heartbeat listen and she "commended" me on my weight gain, which surprised me. I had gained 3 lbs, but lost weight, so at 1.5 lbs for 4 months. The baby is definitely getting bigger, I'm just getting smaller. ;)
Next!

We got our amnio results and everything looks good. We didn't find out the sex. Big u/s is tomorrow. Feeling so-so but I know this is the best part and am trying to relax and enjoy.

Hi everybody!
I'm doing well at 21 weeks, glad to be over 1/2 way there. I still haven't gained any weight but I've stopped losing and am definitely holding my own and starting to show. We've been doing an insane amount of traveling which seems to be triggering a lot of Braxton-hicks. I definitely didn't get them this early before, anyone else? I think it may be the unavoidable car. They get quite uncomfortable and I start feeling trapped so we have to pull over so I can walk around. (And this is in between the pulling over to be sick- it's no wonder the 5 hour drive takes 8:p ).
I am enjoying being able to exercise more and I've started up my yoga mama tape. Does anyone have any recommendations for other yoga or exercise tapes? It would be nice to mix it up.
Hope everyone is doing well, Pam

Please add me to the list:-) EDD is 2/3/08
Had an appointment this morning and found out that at my 16 week ultrasound they discovered that my placenta is lying very low. No one at the ultrasound place mentioned it as being a problem so I was surprised to hear my doctor bring it up today. They did mention that it was low and that the baby is breach, which after reading are two signs that could lead to placenta previa later on if they don't resolve themselves. It also says that it's a common thing and 90% of the early cases resolve themselves by the 30th week or so. I don't know if I had this with DS as well, I didn't get an ultrasound until 20 weeks. Anyway, anyone else that had this? I have my next ultrasound in two weeks and really hope to hear that it's no longer an issue! Other than that, everything is right on track...

Hi all, So glad to hear about everyone.
Today marks 19 weeks 1 day...almost halfway there.
We had an ultrasound done at 18 weeks all looked good. The doctor confirmed we are having a girl!!
The baby was on her head most of the ultrasound and the doctor wanted to get a couple other measurements...(he made sure to tell me all is good just for the record) so I get another ultrasound next week at no charge..
He promised to get me some good photos!
I can't tell if I am feeling the baby move...
I hear descriptions of how it feels but can not confirm that is what I feel....
Has anyone been unsure of this too?

Hey everyone,
I am hanging in at 17w5d and have been feeling pretty good. Aside from a few headaches and bloody noses! Anyone else getting them? I don't think I've had a bloody nose in my life, now I get at least one a week.
My big ultrasound is on the 25th and we are very excited. Just hope Baby K cooperates and shows us if its a boy or girl!
I have been seeing a lot of ads for Expecta Lipil with DHA Supplement for Pregnant and Nursing Moms. Its supposed to aid in brain development. Is anyone taking this? Is it necessary? I'll have to remember to ask my doctor at my next appointment.
BB--I haven't felt any movement or sensations yet. But I am patiently waiting! I heard it feels like flutters or water boiling.

Hi Everyone,
I'm hanging in at 32 wks, 3 days. I can't believe I'm getting so close! I'm pretty sure we're still head up here, but we'll see at next week's appointment.
Still don't have the nursery painted, although we do have the paint, and our furniture just came in but hasn't been delivered yet. Once we get the room sort of set up I'll have lots of baby laundry to do! We got a ton of hand-me-down clothes, which I'm thrilled about, but I want to wash them all before hanging/folding.
Just waiting for my shower on the 22nd to see what else I need to buy before the little guy arrives. Should be an exciting September around here!

Good morning. Didn't sleep well last night. 23 weeks today and doing okay. Some hip pain at night, so I have extra pillows. I have my next appointment on Wednesday. Showing now, and word is getting around the office. Baby is *very* wiggly, just like his sister. Last night when I went to bed I think he was doing a stretch -- oof.
August was an incredibly busy month for us, with a lot of traveling. We are looking forward to a quieter September. We haven't done a single baby-related thing yet. No strong name candidates, no idea where he's going to sleep, have not dug out the newborn clothes from our daughter's closet... nada.
About Braxton-Hicks - I tend to have them in the car on long trips, too, I think due to mild dehydration. I'd rather put up with them than have to pee constantly during the drive, though. :)
About bloody noses - mine hasn't really bled, but it does run all the time and has been very delicate. This is normal and has to do with the state of your mucous membranes during pregnancy. I think I've heard saline drops recommended?
Questions for the second-timers: what are you doing with your other child(ren) during the hospital stay? We'd rather not bring her with us--she's only three, and I think she'd find the whole thing quite alarming--but we can't think of a single person who might be able to come to our place and stay with her at any time of day, on fairly short notice, either. Also, are you going to childbirth classes this time around? I feel I have pretty solid memories from my first labor so told the midwife we were going to pass, but now I'm not sure. We took a Bradley course last time.
And we still have to pick a backup hospital. My hospital of choice is now an hour's drive. In case things go very quickly or we're having a snowstorm or something, we need a local option, too. Maybe in these next couple of weekends....

A big hello to all of the pregnant Mommys out there!
I thought I'd finally come out of lurkdom and join you all...These boards are where I announced my first pregnancy because I found out when my husband was at work and I was about to burst. ;)
Well, fast foward 4 years later and I'm here again having my THIRD baby!! (hi VAL! ;) )
My due date is approximately 1/29 and I am somewhere around 19 weeks. Being the third pregnancy, I have a hard time remembering how far along I am.
My son Laith is 3 1/2 years old, and is starting a Co-op pre-school next week. What was I thinking joining a Co-op pre-school?!??!? I love it, but it may be for only one year.
My son Saif (Sef) is going to be 2 on Oct 21st. Hard to believe. He is becoming quite the little man--just in time for the "baby in Mommy's belly" to come.
I've been feeling like CRAP this pregnancy and joke that it must be a girl, torturing me already. But, my logic tells me I am probably having a boy. We will see at the end of January. My 20 week sono is next week, but I have no desire to find out the gender.
The results of my AFP were normal. That was a relief. We didn't do the AFP with my first two, but because I'm turning 37, we chose to do it this time. (congrats on your normal amnio results Jessica!).
Well, I've been enjoying reading about all of your pregnancies and wish you all good health and healthy babies. I hope to be an active participant, but I can't kid myself. I'll do my best though.
Cheers, Greta

congrats, greta! I saw your mention of your pregnancy on another thread, but didn't know your due date.
julia (who is in kindergarten now) did a co-op preschool (kate was a newborn when she was starting) and it all worked out well. she loved it and I loved getting the chance to see julia in her element and really get to know all her classmates. kate will be going there next year when I have a 8 month old.
veschke, we took julia to the hospital with us when we had kate. not really by choice, but just because the whole thing went so quick and our relatives were too far away to get there in time. she was fine and even ended up spending the night there with us. we were in and out of the hospital in under 24 hours, so it wasn't that big of a deal. I admit it isn't the ideal plan, but if nothing else works out for you, at least you know it isn't the end of the world if you have to do it. I don't know what we will do this time around, but I have visions of all 5 of us sharing the hospital room. I hope that won't be the case, but... well, whatever works!
we never took childbirth classes (for either previous pregnancy). just did reading in some books. worked for us! we had the kind of births we wanted both times and there were no shocks/surprises about the process.

Well, 35w and counting. Can't wait for 37w so I can deliver anytime with no worries, though I wouldn't worry much right now either. Feeling pretty good, practicing interrupted sleep the past month or so (getting up 3x/night), which I guess is training of sorts :D .
I was convinced the baby was breach, but found out yesterday that (s)he's actually head-down. I'm measuring about a week ahead so we'll see. I have good days and bad days but now that I'm slowing doing a little bit (and trying to do a bit less) am feeling better. We had lots of house guests over the summer and it was fun, but I'm glad it's over.
Finally pulling all of the baby stuff out of storage, made a trip to BRU for the basics (Dreft, diapers, wipes, vaseline, burp cloths, nursing pads, pacifiers, etc.). Told DH he's in charge of installing the car seat, which we will need right away.
Aprilbride--I had the same u/s result (partial placenta previa), but it resolved itself by the next month's visit and u/s followup- good luck!
Veschke--We have local family so our 4 1/2yo will stay with them when the birthing center/hospital time comes, but will visit as soon as possible (and daytime) after the birth.
Another ? for second-timers--Did you get the older sibling a present for when the baby was born? I keep reading a doll is a good idea but she has dolls and isn't very into it. I'm looking for a "I'm the big sister" shirt but haven't had much luck yet. Any brilliant ideas?
Take care all-

When we announced it to everyone, we got Nicholas an "I'm Going to Be a Big Brother" shirt and that's how we told everyone. There are a few places online that carry them, but none that gave me a warm-and-fuzzy, so I ended up getting one made at one of those engraving/shirt places - $20. I debated about buying a shirt and the letters and making it myself, but they were able to do a kid-type handwriting, which I thought was cute.
Delanl - we're neck and neck - our big U/S is 9.26 and I cannot wait! My prenatals have the DHA supplement too - she said it's better.
No nosebleeds here, but still the freakin' pins and needles in the middle of the night. Checked with doc on Friday and she said it was normal and she had it too. Fun. Also sporting my first zits in 37 years. ;)
Veschke - we didn't do childbirth classes with Nicholas, and not doing them this time either.

Greta--Welcome. Sorry you are still feeling awful. I am doing better but it definitely has been harder this time.
Veschke--We also took a Bradley course. We may do a refresher with our instructor or we may just review with our doula. As for our son, a friend offered to watch him while i am in labor. He will only be 19-20m and we can't possibly watch him at the hospital and focus on labor, too.
Aprilbride--My SIL had that same situation at 20 weeks and it resolved itself in the early third tri. She did not have to have a C.
Wallingjan--I've been doing FitMama, a DVD I borrowed from netflix. It is pretty good. I also have a yoga one that I like.
Well, our big u/s was supposed to be today but when we got to the clinic there had been some sort of glitch and it was canceled. No one told us! We rescheduled for the 18th but the nurse felt sorry for us and gave us a quick peek at our baby.

Dunno why I ended up looking at this thread but jumping in for a second.
I am actually qualified - as am expecting #3 12/12. [DS will be 3 1/2; DD turns 2 early November. Yikes!] We are having another boy.
Anyway - regarding the question about sibling gifts:
DS was 19 months when DD was born. We got him a gift from his new sister, wrapped it, and packed it in the hospital bag. He came to the hospital the day after she was born, and received the gift from his sister. I really liked giving him something he could play with right then and there. We will do the same this time around - with gifts for DS and DD from the new baby, and I am sure I will angle for something that might hold their attention for a bit at the hospital. It's not that DS was stuck there for an afternoon - he left when he was ready to go. And he has always been a super mature kid; completely got the pregnancy thing and was quite happy to meet his sister. But it can be a bit overwhelming - here's the new baby who does nothing, here's mommy in a big hospital bed [although DS was CRAZY about the bed buttons :)]. Depending on whether mommy has been away for a night [or more] previously they might be a bit weirded out [assuming they were not at hospital for delivery] etc. It's nice for them to have something special to enjoy.
Also - the hospital we were at had an amazing gift shop. During one of his back and forths DH got a couple of things for my son, had them wrapped, and had me give them to DS - just from mommy - the day we came home from the hospital. DD was out cold in her bassinet. DS and I hung out on the floor and DS loved his new cars and new book. It was nice one-on-one time, and I imagine reassuring for him. As mentioned one of the gifts was a book - which is always a great mommy present as it's something you share together despite all the chaos unfolding with new baby underfoot.
Another great gift that I have given and received for new big siblings [from adults]: bookstore gift cards. The older sibling HAS to get a parent to take him/her book shopping - which again means some special one-on-one time. May sound challenging, but actually doable especially early on if there are grandparents etc around to help out.
Just my two cents! :)

Hey everyone,
Did some dreaded maternity clothes shopping last night. I had stopped in Target for some other things and wandered over to the maternity section. My pants aren't fitting so great anymore, most of them I can't button and I have been using safety pins! :o So I thought maybe it was time. I tried on about 6 pairs of pants and came out with 1 pair I liked, so I bought them in black and grey. I am tall (5'11) so I was expecting finding pants long enough for me to be a challenge. I know GAP has long lengths, but I was looking online the other day and a pair of maternity jeans on SALE was $58! The pants I found are nice, but I got them in a size 6. They fit good now, but if my behind gets any bigger, I might be in for some trouble. And I am suspecting it will!:D So what are you ladies doing? Buying some stuff now and then bigger sizes down the line?
Also, I ended up buying that Expecta DHA Supplement too. I took it last night with dinner and was up all night with a stomach ache. Not sure if it was related to that, but now I am a bit hesitate to take it again. Sigh. Enough of my rambling!
Welcome Greta!! And I didn't get a chance to congratulate Kingwell on last months thread, so congrats!
Have a good weekend everyone!

Hi Leigh...
I am 5 ft 1/2 an inch and started as a small size zero..
I have purchased size 1 and 3 and have outgrown them.
I shopped all over for maternity clothes. I had a bit of success at Old Navy and Target, a couple of xs fit me. (I am in capris because most pants are too long..) seems like we are opposite on height charts...
The only pair of maternity jeans that fit were at a boutique maternity shop and they were.... ok get this $186...............
Needless to say I have no jeans....
Maybe as I grow I can get a pair at a decent price. I always thought that once I got pregnant clothes shopping would be easier...

Leigh - I am almost 6'1 and had a hard time finding clothes.
I had decent luck at JC Penny (online) for tall maternity pants. Do you have a Tall Girls shop near you? They have maternity (small selection) and they online shopping now.
http://www.tallgirlshop.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=72_54
I ended up getting Gap jeans on sale and hated them - they were very saggy in the behind and I was always hiking my pants up.
I was lucky because I stumbled upon Lands End with huge markdowns on their maternity because they were no longer going to make maternity clothes.

I wish I'd started at your size :) but I am only a couple inches taller. I found pants at Gap and Chadwicks that were the right length, but only online.
I already feel huge. I am into my maternity clothes from last time (gad, they're boring, but love those stretchy tummies), and will probably have to buy bigger ones (!) this time around. Going to be a long four months at this rate.
And we still have to pick a backup hospital. My hospital of choice is now an hour's drive. In case things go very quickly or we're having a snowstorm or something, we need a local option, too. Maybe in these next couple of weekends....
My SIL gave birth at Milford Regional Hospital and got really good care. There were many complications ending in an emergency cesarean but they were very happy with how everything was handled. If you're in Worcester proper it may not be any closer to you but I thought it was worth sharing in case you're in the burbs.

Checking in at 28 weeks. Things are going so fast this time around. I can't believe I've only got 12 weeks or less to go.
Just wanted to chime in about nosebleeds. I had quite a few this pregnancy but none with my first pregnancy. It seems like they lasted from late in my first tri into about towards the end of the 2nd, but now that I think about it I haven't had one in weeks (yipee!). One thing my dr told me was that it's the hormones and extra blood, and I felt like a garden hose that kept springing a leak! It didn't matter what I was doing, just sitting reading the newspaper was when I had the first one and it freaked me out so much that I almost passed out (I'm really squeemish and it was a lot of blood!). From there since I kept getting them I knew it was pregnancy related and lots of my friends told me they get them too. Well my point is that they seem to have gone away later in my pregnancy, hopefully they will for you too!
Re maternity clothes, I had a lot from last time but I did buy a few things because it's a totally different season this time (due in Nov vs April last time). In my travels I found that Babystyle stuff is sized on the smaller side. They have a website if you don't have a store in your area. Their stuff is a bit on the expensive side, but it's nice quality and they run sales all the time.
As for what we'll do with DS#1, I have a bro that's about an hour drive, and he'll stay there with his two favorite cousins under 5 so it should be lots of fun. Hubby will probably go get him one of the days I'm there and bring him by for a few hours to meet his baby sis. That's a cute idea to have her give him a present, I think we'll do that too. DS asked me (he's 2y5mo) if I was "going to the hospital" to have sister and if "dr poke" when I go. Cracked me up! His "dr poke" comes from his last trip to the doctor when he got a shot and he was indignant that the dr "poked" him in the leg, it was like he was saying "what the heck do you think you're doing?"
Jessica - I almost had your situation when we had our big u/s. The day I was scheduled to go, I got the mail before heading out to the dr office and a letter was in there confirming my appointment for the same visit on another date about two weeks later. Ultimately I was just double booked for two appointments by mistake, but I was on the phone so fast! I would have been heartbroken if I had to wait more after thinking it was my big day. At least you go to take a peek, that was nice of them but still crummy to not get the scheduling right.
Aprilbride - I've heard about the positioning of the placenta changing as we go along. Like a big balloon stretching out, the stretch might bring it further away from the trouble spot and end up more on the side. I'm sure they'll watch it closely and that might mean you get more ultrasound peeks out of watching the progress.
Anyway, feeling pretty good, have a very squirmy baby in my tummy! She flipped a few days ago from side lying to head down, I felt every little turn. Now I just get kicks at the top of my belly and little pokes at the bottom. I'm pretty sure she's head down now, but wouldn't surprise me if she flips again soon.
Happy Sunday everyone!

Good to know, thank you. We are on the south side of Worcester proper, near Auburn. I am somewhat nervous about having a baby at such a chancy time of year! Last time it was July and no worries.

Welcome to all the new pregnant ladies on this thread and good luck to all of you! :D
I am hoping that reneeinnorthwes & klrickrode are already enjoying their new bundles of joy!
As for me...40 weeks and a day. My dd was yesterday and still no sign of our little guy! Had an appt. on Fri and my doc said everything looks good and he should make an appearance any day now. The waiting is literally driving me crazy and on top of it everyone is calling and asking, well, anything yet? Not that I don't appreciate everyone's concern and excitement, but I had like 11 people call me yesterday! I am tired and am done being pregnant! Every night I go to bed thinking maybe tonight and then ..... (after tossing & turning) nothing! I have another appt. this Friday and if he still does not come until then, then I will probably be induced a week from today.
Other than that I guess I am feeling pretty good for the most part. I told DH that he must be taking after his father because he is already causing trouble and he's late! ;) Hopefully I'll check back in with some good news later this week. Please send some good labor & delivery vibes my way so our little guy comes out of hiding already!!:o

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to check in and let you know that we had our little baby on September 6th at 3:57 a.m. His name is Evan Dale and he is nice and healthy. He weighted 7 lbs 6 ounces when he was born and is 19 and 1/2 inches.
The birth went very smoothly and according to our plan (even though we never actually had time to pull out the plan and share it with the hospital but my husband and I talked about it a ton so he helped keep them informed of our wishes).
I went to the dr on Wed afternoon and was 4 cm dilated and basically 100% effaced. By 10:00 in the evening my contractions really started. My husband called the hospital around 11:00 to see if we should come in and they said we shouldn't come in until I can't talk through the contractions. By the time he hung up the phone I could no longer talk. He called again around 11:45 and told them we would be in shortly. We put the finishing touches on our bags.. put them in the car and arrived at the hospital at 12:45 a.m.
By the time we got to the hospital I was 6 cm dilated and having crazy contractions that were difficult to talk or walk through. I needed to change positions so we got to our room and I got into the bath (but didn't use the jets). It was crazy but in a short while I had this crazy urge to push that I just couldn't possibly ignore. I told the doctor.. I got out of the tub and started pushing. The pushing phase took about 1 hour and I spent about 30-40 minutes pushing on all 4's (basically in a cat cow position). It felt the best and I didn't want to be on my back. In the end I changed positions and then the baby came out.
So.. our experience was very intense and we were in the hospital for just over 3 hours before he arrived. I ended up with a very small first degree tear (that I didn't even feel). I have two stitches and they really don't hurt that much (after taking some advil from the hospital).
We were lucky to have a natural child birth as we wanted ... though, I do believe if our labor had been a long one -natural birth would not have been an option. The pain was too much.. though maybe if it took longer it would be less intense. Who knows!!!
I must run and feed our little cutie but just wanted to let you know about the baby. Let me know if you have any questions about the process. I learned a lot and can hardly believe how well my body treated me.

Congrats on the new baby, Renee! Glad everything went so well. :)
Anyone have experience with "round ligament pain?" I had what I think now are round ligament pains on Saturday/Sunday. Talked to the on-call doc yesterday and said I was holding up on going to er so I could go to the office today (and they were getting better). Managed to get a 1:30 appt. At 2:20, I got up and asked how much longer it was going to be since I had to pick up my son. There was one person ahead of me, and she wasn't going to be seen for at least 40 more minutes! So they said I wouldn't be seen for at least another hour! It wasn't even a doc, but a np. They paged my doc because if she said it is what I think it is, then no worries, I just don't want to assume, you know? She hasn't called me back yet. Next available appt? Thursday at 5pm! Doc yesterday said if it was appendicitis, I'd have nausea or vomiting and it wouldn't be getting progressively better. If I had pulled a muscle, I would have felt an ouch right when it happened. No blood, no discharge, and I heard heartbeat yesterday am and saturday afternoon, so baby probably fine (thank goodness for doppler!). Pain nearly completely gone today. Thoughts?

Congrats Renee! Your body does fast work, was that your first delivery? I'm hoping for that kind of speed the second time around :D .
Am jealous of you delivering folks- at almost 36w have had almost enough of this, but still enjoying the free hands. Will check in if there's any news from my appt this week.
Take care, Melissa

Congrats Renee! And Welcome Evan!
Missindi--I've had round ligament pains too. They aren't constant, I feel them the most when I get up quickly. Its usually a brief, shooting pain, in my right lower side. I wouldn't worry about it. Easier said then done though, I know!
Maternity shopping update--I have decided to wait a few more weeks, I went to a few different stores (thanks for the tip on JCPenney Maria!) this weekend and everything is just too big for me still. So I will wear the few pairs I got so far and safety pin the rest! :)
Other than that, I have been feeling good. I thought I felt the baby move last night, but I'm not totally sure and haven't felt it since. So who knows!
Delurking (why am I still drawn to this thread?? :D )
Missindi, I had wicked round ligament pain this last pregnancy. And I mean it was stop-dead-in-your-tracks-doubled-over kind of pain. I almost panicked the first time because I'd forgotten what they felt like (and they weren't that bad the first time, dr said they were likely worse because of scar tissue from the previous C section). Pregnancy can be lots of fun sometimes, yes? :)

Anyone have experience with "round ligament pain?"
I don't remember having it with my first pregnancy, but I have occasionally this time around (which seems odd, although from LA98's post maybe it's surgery-related?). For me, it's a brief, shooting type of discomfort. They can be intense enough that I catch my breath, and sometimes take a few minutes to fade, but that's about it. If you're having more consistent pain, I would go ahead and see someone about it.

Just got back from the doctor and she confirmed it's round ligament pain. After the on-call doctor mentioned it Sunday and I did a little research, it seemed to fit, but felt better with someone in a white coat saying it was so. Pain mostly gone now, just a dull ache. Never had it with Nicholas, but doctor said today that a lot of women don't get it until their second pregnancy. One of the things I read online said "but don't worry, because it's goes away immediately upon delivery." Fun!

Renee--Congratulations and welcome to little Evan. Love the name. You did great with your natural birth and I am so excited you had the birth you wanted.
Checking in at 20w. I found a new midwife practice and have my first app't next month. I am sad to leave my OB but I cannot go back to that hospital and I really wanted something more crunchy. We are planning for a second natural birth if everything is medically OK.

One of the easiest ways I have found is to go to a place like www.photobucket.com
You can upload your picture there. Once it is uploaded, you'll see some links underneath with ways to post your picture. It is hard to explain without seeing it, but there is an option for image
[IMG] photobucket web address [IMG]
That is the one I always use - just copy/paste into a post.
You may want to resize the picture before posting - that is an option on the site. Otherwise you end up with a giant picture in your post. I've posted many giant baby heads before I figured out how to resize.

I had my 24-week checkup this morning, everything looks fine. I've been having a lot of stomach acid with this pregnancy, and the midwife mentioned papaya extract, has anyone tried that?
It is slowly dawning on me that we kinda have to get on the stick here with getting ready for this kid. :) Preparation isn't going to take care of itself.

Hi all,
Just checking in at almost 18 weeks. Tomorrow is our big ultrasound. I am so anxious for it. I think I've said here before that I am positive that it's a boy, but I'm dying to know for sure. I really think I will be fine either way -- I've definitely always imagined myself with a daughter, but I do love having a little boy. DH and his brother are very close, and I think it would be nice for DS to have a brother like that. But I am very close to my mom, and I would love to have that with a DD someday. Anyway, it is what it is, and hopefully we'll know tomorrow. After I found out that DS was a boy, I definitely felt everything was more "real," so I look forward to that feeling again. And of course, I'm anxious to see that all his other parts look good as well.
I am constantly amazed at how much more tired I am this time around. Having a 3-year-old really makes a difference. Can't just rest any time I want to like I did the first time! Of course, I am also working and teaching a college class, so it's possible I'm just a tiny bit overextended. :)
Hope everyone is feeling well!!

Checking in after my 36w visit- all is well. My midwife said that the head is very low and engaged in my pelvis, which is great, but no internal until 39w (hope to check out of this club before then!). In fact, I refused to make appts after 9/25 (38w) because I am feeling this will be a September baby (and DD was early, AND I'm HUGE), but who knows?
Also talked extensively about my post-partum hemorrhage last time and how to handle it this time, etc. I feel better and am trying now to let go of worrying about it and trust my caregivers will know what is best for me, so I can concentrate on the delivery. I'm working on getting emotially/spiritually now ready in addition to getting organized.
Veschke--I didn't start doing baby stuff until 34w so you're not behind yet! And let me just say opening endless BRU packages of new stuff is more fun than cleaning off stuff from the basement during round 2 :D

Hi Kim.
I've officially graduated to the new moms thread (but haven't had time to check in on really any threads now that my hands are full of baby!) but saw your workout question.
I did both prenatal yoga and water aerobics (normal, not specifically prenatal) during my pregnancy, especially since my rib & back pain prevented me from my usual routine of step aerobics. My childbirth teachers told me to beware of water aerobics late in pregnancy (said the baby could switch positions to breech) but my doctor pooh-poohed that and had no concerns with it at all. I would have done prenatal yoga right up to the end but my instructor went out of town and by the last three weeks just lugging my big body anywhere was quite an ordeal so I opted out. I do know people who swam laps up until the day their baby appeared and I think if you can swing it, go for it.

All is well here at almost 21w. My rescheduled u/s is Tuesday and I am looking forward to that. Most of my symptoms have faded so I am in that honeymoon stage, although the fatigue is pretty overwhelming at times.
Veschke--We did almost everything to get ready for DS in the last month or so. You really don't need much in the beginning and you will get lots of gifts.
Chefbecky--GL with the ultrasound. I definitely am more tired this time, and I just work PT and have a toddler. I also think this baby is a boy and while i am close to my mom, I admit I will be a bit relieved at not having to relive girl stuff through my daughter. As you say, it is what it is.
KimCL--Congrats--I am partial to little boys. ;) I have a prenatal yoga DVD called YogaMama that I like. It is not very difficult. I am not as fit as you and my idea of an extreme sport is cranking up the incline on the treadmill, so it might not be enough of a workout for you. The FitMama workout DVD with Leisa Hart has a yoga fat burn section that also is pretty good.

Hi all. I thought of one other random tip for second babies [not that anyone asked:rolleyes: ]
The fantabulous hospital we use suggested we pack a picture of DS to put in DDs little hospital "crib" after she was born. We just taped it up on the side. Obviously not so much for the newborn who can't really see it, but a very nice way to show the new big bro/sis how important they [still] are. DS was quite pleased, and one night solo in my hospital room I snapped an adorable picture of newborn DD asleep on her side facing her big bro's pic and reaching out for it. Still my cellphone screensaver :)
No idea why that popped into my head yesterday but I thought it was such a great idea that I would pass it along [and make a mental note to pack DS and DD photos for baby #3...]

So much for mother's intuition ... it's a GIRL! I am still totaly shocked. Every time I say it, I think, "Can that be right?" When I thought it was a boy, I just felt like it would be doing the same thing over again; now it seems like totally starting over with a whole new species! I am very excited, of course, just trying to mentally switch gears.
All of her parts looked perfect on the ultrasound -- it looks like she has long legs, like me. Actually, the pictures weren't as good as the ones from the 12-week NT scan -- this time, all I could really make out were legs and spine.

Has anyone tried prenatal yoga or prenatal water aerobics?
Delurking... Kim, I did prenatal yoga towards the end of my pregnancy and it was bliss. I did aerobics and lifted weights up until it was just too darned uncomfortable and then switched to just the yoga for exercise. It actually wasn't too much of a workout - more relaxing in different postures, specifically chosen for preggos. They really helped my sore back and hips and I managed to keep going right up until I delivered (although I delivered early, so maybe that doesn't mean much). Good luck with your pregnancy and congratulations on the little boy! :)

Chefbecky - congrats on the u/s going smoothly and the girl! :)
Had my almost-five-month visit today and all is fine. Gained 3-1/2 lbs since my last visit, and I have a sneaking suspicion it might have had something to do with those 3 cupcakes I ate from Billy's Bakery on Sunday.
Have my "big" u/s next week and really looking forward to it. Tried to get it moved a bit earlier in the week, but nothing open until 10/10.
Only symptoms are the pins-and-needles carpal tunnel that wakes me up every night, but if that's the worst I have to suffer through right now, I'll take it. ;)

Chefbecky--congrats on your little girl.
We had our big u/s today. It was rescheduled and DH couldn't make it, but I got some great views of our baby and the tech and doctor say everything looks great.
My only worry is I am packing on the weight. I know i need to watch sweets but I am eating mostly healthy food and exercising every day, yet I have already gained about 14 lb and most of that has been in the past 10w. I am trying to eat more protein to see if that helps.

Hi all!
Congrats on your little girl ChefBecky! We find out next Tuesday night, and I can't wait!
And thanks KimCL for asking about the yoga DVDs. I have been walking on the treadmill 3x a week, but I've really had to slow down my pace in the last few weeks. I am going to try and keep walking for as long as I can, but I def want to incorporate some yoga in there too.
Is anyone else experiencing pain in their sciatic (sp?) nerve. Oof, lately I've been getting shooting pains and sitting all day at work definitely does not help the situation. I have to do some research online to see if there are any stretches or exercises I can do. Otherwise between that and my allergies acting up, I feel good! Thank goodness I can take Claritin. It has been a lifesaver.
Any news from Krysia yet? I think she is due any day now.....

Oof. Is there such a thing as a fetus being *too* active?! I swear, this little guy is already trying to wiggle out. I don't remember being able to feel kicks on the *outside* at this stage with my daughter (and we called her Squirmy!).
I'm not doing anything fitness-wise this pregnancy. :o Last time I did a lot of treadmill walking, but with all the changes in our lives since then I haven't managed to get back on a schedule of exercise, let alone find a gym. I do have a yoga tape from last time, which I keep meaning to pull out - I miss doing yoga.

Checking in at 21 weeks and a day...
Feeling pretty good most of the time. I think I had a small bit of siatic pressure yesterday, I had a pain through one of my but cheeks...
IS that what I was feeling??
It took me awhile to figure out the fetal movement, maybe til 18 weeks plus, but last night wow she really was dancing.
I have been walking since the beginning which was a downgrade in my exercise. Good thing is I do it everyday...along with weights...(about half the weight of pre preggo)
I recently purchased a prenatal pilates dvd, that was a good work out.
Starting to clear out our guest room to make room for the baby stuff....

Our little guy finally arrived!!!
Matthew David was born Saturday, Sept. 15th at 6:51 pm. 7 lbs. 19 inches.
I had at appt. this past Friday and learned I was still only 2 cm dialted. Since my due date was 9/09, my doc suggested I come in to be induced on Sunday morning at 8 am.
Well, I guess our little stinker got scared and come on his own on Saturday. I started having contractions around 10:00'ish in the morning but they were pretty far apart and not that painful. Around 2:00'ish they were coming like closer but still not intense, so I called my DH and told him he should try to get off work early and come home. He came home around 4:30 and my contractions were still bearable. I am not sure what happened but in the next hour they became so intense, so I called my doc and he said to come on in. By the time we got to the hospital, I was in tears from the pain. We were admitted at 5:42 pm and I waited from the resident to check me out. I couldn't believe the pain! Well, turns out that I was 7, almost 8 cm at that point. (no wonder I was in so much pain  ). I opted for the epidural & the anesthesiologist came and got me set-up. He just went to grab the goods and connect my pain relief when when my water broke, and I was at 10 cm, fully dialted & ready to go. She was yelling not to administer the epidural because I had to start pushing. Suddenly, there was madness and people running everywhere and a little less than 20 minutes later at 6:51 pm our little Matthew was born (1 hour and 9 minutes after we arrived at the hospital). I did end up getting some stitches but the pain is manageable and was well worth it! :p It was really so crazy & hectic and it all happened so fast we were both in shock after he was born & crying until one of the nurses asked if we had a camera, maybe we would like to take some pictures..:o
Here are some pics our litttle guy.

veschke, when I was pregnant with DS, I was so grateful when he would STOP moving for a few minutes. He was a huge squirmer, and still is, three years later. :) I remember a few weeks before my due date, I was sitting in a meeting at work. Krysia- Congratulations! Beautiful baby!
Had my 37w check last night and I am "legal" as the midwife likes to say (full term), so now the waiting game begins. I feel enormous and ready but now have to wait for the baby to be ready to pick his/her birthday. I am still sleeping well so can't complain, but now I wake up and can't get back to sleep. I'm not uncomfortable or anything but just wide awake and waiting for baby, I guess. One annoying thing is that I keep (weekly or so) pulling muscles in my lower abdomen from being so stretched out. Not that I'm doing anything too strenuous, but when I push myself a little too much it happens, then it takes about a day or so to feel better. Oh well, another reason to be on the couch watching Weeds in the evening rather than cleaning closets :D .
Take care everyone,

I had a very annoying shopping experience last week. I was at Motherhood Maternity in Cambridge, looking for pants. When I went to buy them, I was told that in order to make my purchase, I *had* to provide my zip code and my due date! Needless to say, I told the cashier I wouldn't be back, and dashed off a sharp note to their customer service people.
I hate pushy retailers. And I have never before seen one that said you *had* to tell them personal information in order to buy something. That's just ridiculous.

Congrats, Krysia!! He's adorable:-) Enjoy your little man!
As for me, I had another ultrasound at 21 weeks last week and all looks good. No more placenta issues and apparently we're still having a girl. Allthough every other person that asks tells me that they know of someone that was told they we're having a girl only to find out later on in pregnancy (or at birth) that it was a boy afterall (which of course would be fantastic as well, but I'd hate to only have pink things for him:-))
So here's a question for all of you...what's to soon to host a babyshower for someone? DH's best friend's wife is pregnant and only 4 weeks behind me, I'm due Feb, 3., she's due March 4th. I want to give her a shower, it's their first, they moved here from Canada so all their family is back there. But, considering the fact that I'll be ready to pop if we wait until the beginning of January I'm not sure I want to take on planning a shower. I'd like to move it up, but am wondering when I'd cross the "tacky" line...ideally I'd like to have it at the beginning of December...Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi all!
Just got back from our 20 week ultrasound and we are having a GIRL!! We are thrilled and the ultrasound was so neat! We got to see her little heart, spine, brain, legs, hands, everything! We even saw her yawn twice! :) So amazing! She was doing some crazy acrobatics in there too, her feet were up by her head. I might have a little gymnast on my hands. :p
Aprilbride--I've heard all those stories too, which makes me a little nervous, but our ultrasound tech seemed very confident. He even pointed out all her little girl parts. :) And by the way, is that you in the Fitness section of the October CL? Learning all those great ab moves, that you can't use now? ;)
As for the shower, I am due in February and my mom is planning on having my shower in early December, to avoid the holidays and potential bad weather. So no, I don't think that would be tacky at all! And your friend is very lucky to have such a thoughtful friend like you.
Veschke--I don't blame you about complaining, that's ridiculous. I am amazed by how much "baby" stuff I am getting in the mail now. I was like, how does Target know I am pregnant?? But I guess my info has gotten sold to everyone!

I wondered how they knew..and even sending me coupons.
As for showers, I am due January 29th and my shower is the 9th of December.
My MIL and SIL considered November and that would have been fine too.
I don't know the etiquette but I think it will be fine in December with a March due date.
Not tacky at all!!

Yup, that's me in the October issue. They must have been running low on good articles since this one was done over a year ago and they never ran it. Then a few months ago I got an e-mail asking if my stats were still correct (ummmm, no....:-)) and telling me they were going to run it. I don't even want to see it, the pics DH took left a lot to be desired, but it was super short notice and all I could do at that point:-(

Congrats on all the pink news. :) We heard those stories too with our daughter, but I don't actually know anyone it's happened to. Still, we got some neutral colored onesies and things, just in case!
aprilbride, that's awfully nice of you to have a shower for her. I think December should work okay - planning anything seems to get complicated around the holidays even without babies on the way. I don't know if there's any actual rules about it, though. My husband's family threw us a little shower two weeks before I was due.
Motherhood sent me an apologetic note to say that they were going to talk to whoever's responsible for that store.

Welcome Erin and congrats!
I've been lurking ever since I tested positive - I'm in week 9 now with an EDD of 5/5/08. I have one DS, and I got reflux at the end, but I'm at my wits end about the nausea this round since I had nothing like this before.
I never throw up - I just feel nauseous all day long unless I've recently eaten. I can't exactly chow my way through the first trimester, but I'd love to feel something other than ugh all day. Any suggestions? Toast this am seemed to be nicer than some other choices - I'm also having massive food sensitivities this time.

I am not ready to fully join yet, as I am only 7w4d (EDD May 11) and had a m/c in May.....
But, Nancy I am dying here with the m/s and this is what my midwive suggested:
Sips of ginger ale or juice, light carbs (crackers, bread or tortilla), sea bands, suck lemon drop candie, nibble ginger cookies or chews, rest. Sleep it away.
I have been nibbling on plain cheerios and perrier all day and haven't gotten sick since 6am. Last night I managed to keep a grilled cheese down. But I got sick at 3am and 6am on an empty stomach.
I was prescribed Zofran but am trying not to take it. Has anyone taken it? Thoughts on it?

Alright... I was waiting until October but since all the other newly-pregnant ladies are delurking... I want in! :)
I have my first prenatal appointment on Tuesday, but according to WebMD my due date would be 5/21/08. We'll see if the doctor agrees! I think I'm six weeks... but again hopefully I'll find confirmation once I see a doctor.
Not much happening here... no m/s (yet). Just some ... tenderness... in the chest area and TIREDNESS. That, and frequent bathroom trips (especially at night).
I'm trying to work out a bit more, I wasn't in shape before this all started and with the fatigue it isn't easy but I know it'll be best for me if I just push the excuses out of the way and get on with that. So, with that, I have a date with my elliptical.
Glad to be here!

De-lurking as well, with an EDD of March 28th. :) I've almost posted a few other times, but honestly, this all still feels a little surreal.
I'm finally past the chronic nausea and can manage to stay up past 9pm but am still really tired most of the time.
I had my 2nd prenatal appt this morning and got to hear the heartbeat. I'll find out in a few more weeks whether I'm having a boy or girl.

Wow! Lots of newbies, how exciting! Welcome to you all and I'm wishing you healthy, comfortable pregnancies. I know all about the constant nausea...I had that in the beginning, too. Luckily, it does get better during the 2nd trimester.
I'm hanging in at almost 36 weeks, here....I can't believe I'm getting so close. Had my shower last Saturday and got lots of loot, but there is still so much we need to buy! So DH and I will be off to BRU this weekend for a shopping spree. The nursery is finally ready to receive the little guy, and we're getting excited about his arrival. Hopefully we'll get a name picked out here pretty soon!

Thanks for the warm welcome and hi to the other lurkers! :)
Susan, thanks for the advice; I hauled out my old copy of your pregnancy week-by-week, and it had more advice for nausea. I'll share it here in case it can help you too. It also says that your HCG levels start to taper at the end of the first trimester, which is why most nausea gets better around then.
- Eat small meals frequently to keep your stomach from being overfull.
- Drink lots of fluid.
- Find out what foods, smells or situations make your nauseated. Avoid them when possible.
- Avoid coffee because it stimulates stomach acid.
- A high-protein snack before bed may help stabilize blood sugar.
- Sometimes a high-carb snack before bed helps.
- Ask your partner to make you some dry toast in the morning before you get up; eat it in bed. Or keep crackers and dry cereal near the bed to nibble on before you get up in the morning. They help absorb stomach acid.
- Keep your bedroom cool at night, and air it out often. Cool, fresh air may help you feel better.
- Get out of bed slowly.
- If you take an iron supplement, take it an hour before meals or 2 hours after a meal.
- Nibble on raw ginger; or pour boiling water over it and sip the "tea".
- Salty foods help some women with nausea.
- Lemonade and watermelon may help alleviate symptoms.
Some of the advice is pretty obvious in nature, but at least my cravings for salty foods, lemonade, and watermelon make more sense. I saw a huge watermelon at the store yesterday, and though most sweet things make my stomach churn, that watermelon just had to come home. DS and I ate a good 1/4 of it. :o Now if my mind didn't reach for the french fries are salty solution, I'd be doing better.
I may play with ginger foods more - ginger ale sounds positively awesome this morning, and I know there are some great ginger-pear combos out there.

Congrats everyone on your pregnancies!!
I am only 2 weeks and I had no symptoms but all of a sudden last night they all hit me...tenderness in the chest area, a bit nauseous but it only lasts a few seconds, lower back pain (is this normal???), and I have a hard time sleeping....DH was laughing at me because I have been craving pizza all week and the chocolate soft serve ice cream from costco?!?! I am NOT a junk food person, that is sooo weird...I'm also a bit bummed because not only can't I drink coffee but I read last night that green tea is out too...I am NOT happy! I wonder if white tea is okay, anyone know?
Also, is it normal to have TOO much energy?...I usually go to bed at 9PM on most nights and all of a sudden I can't fall asleep until 11PM...even at work, I feel like the energizer bunny...I thought I was supposed to be tired!

I had my usual cup of coffee w/milk & sugar (probably about a 10-oz coffee) all through my pregnancy. I didn't have any other caffeine drinks, though - never been a soda drinker and just stuck to decaf iced tea. I think you are safe having a cup of coffee - it's all about moderation.

Enjoy it while it lasts. :D Every pregnancy is different. With Nicholas, there was a definite period where getting up out of bed felt like it would require too much energy and an entire weekend or two where I didn't move or do anything. With this one, it's completely different. I do feel a bit tired, but we just moved into a new house, we have a five-year-old already and I'm working a lot, so any non-pregnant person would be tired. I haven't felt zapped yet... knock wood.
Just got back from my big 1-hour u/s and everything was A-OK with the baby. 100% girl - I knew it. I do have placenta previa, however, and have to go back in 8 weeks to make sure it corrected itself (and no sex for that time period - told doc my dh is never going to believe me!). But other than that, we're good. :D Phew...
And I can officially no longer button up my jeans, but discovered bella bands a few months ago, truly a wonderful invention. :)
Welcome to all the newcomers - the October list is growing by leaps and bounds!

My morning sickness is much better with this second pregnancy, but even at over 24 weeks I'm still sick most days. My true lifesaver has been Sobe lifewater. I was in the hospital twice for dehydration before I discovered it. The clerk must of thought I was nuts when I bought a dozen different drinks to try. I really like the pomegranite-cherry. It has a little fructose in it and I think that is what does the trick. And as a bonus, it is still refreshing and fruity coming back up - not all sour:p
It will get better, even if it takes a while, Pam

I agree on the coffee - I had one cup of coffee all the way through my pregnancy with DS, and it was fine. I was actually very averse to coffee when pg with DD, so every pregnancy is different even with the same person!
I think all the rest of your symptoms are normal, you might find that you get fatigued in a few weeks or you may not get it at all. I was very fatigued with DD but not so much with DS. I had a huge burst of energy toward the end of my pg with DS that I moved my office and scrubbed my house top to bottom (I even made DH move the refrigerator so I could vacuum the dust bunnies behind it) and went into labor 2 days later.

thanks! I'm glad to hear I can still drink coffee...I guess I should take some of what I read with a grain of salt ;) :) ...I'm a little hesitant about the green tea though since I read it interferes with cell development...
Great news Missindi on your GIRL! :D

Wow, lots going on on this thread! Congrats to all the newcomers:-)
Missindi, I had placenta previa, too, but between my 16 week and 21 week ultrasound it corrected itsself...Luckily (for DH), there was only a two week time period between my doc telling me and my next ultrasound, so he didn't have to "suffer" to long....
Regarding caffeine, with DS I weaned myself off in the first trimester, so the no caffeine headaches and the morning sickness together really did me in....this time around I stuck with my one cup a day habit....but the first three months were still rough with extreme fatigue and feeling nauseous all day long. Luckily that seems to resolve itsself in the 2nd trimester!

I had my usual cup of coffee w/milk & sugar (probably about a 10-oz coffee) all through my pregnancy.
I tried to cut back during my first trimester, but I just couldn't do it. :o It's been the morning cuppa tea and lunchtime soda most of the time, though I've been able to keep the latter down to every other day or so most of the time. Not today, though. I'm tired and cranky and frustrated at work, and I'll take my small pleasures where I can get them.
Pregnancy wouldn't be so bad if there was only some way to get a day *off* once in a while.

Congrats to all the new ladies!! Looks like we'll be a busy thread through the spring.
For the moms with morning sickness/nausea -- I had horrible nausea this time around. It was a huge shock to me, because I had NEVER had any at all with DS. (This one is a girl -- coincidence?) Anyway, I am normally not that into junk food, but the one thing that made me feel better this time was occasional greasy food -- a grilled cheese, a few fries. Those are things I normally eat very rarely, but I reallly felt better after eating them.
Fortunately, it literally went away overnight around 13 weeks. So hang in there!

I was curious what a "bella band" was so I looked it up...OMG, that's soooo cool! I ordered one right away! I had just bought a whole bunch of dress pants for work and I was a bit bummed that I wouldn't be able to wear them through the whole winter but I guess I can wear them longer now...happy happy happy!
thank you for mentioning this! :D

erin...
Just to echo the moderation recommendation...I asked my doctor about both coffee and green tea (I heard those reports the week I found out I was pregnant) and her opinion on both was moderation. No real concerns unless I was having more than a cup of coffee a day, and she thought the green tea warnings were ridiculous! I just kept asking myself if women in Asian countries were really unhealthy or cutting out green tea and figured the answer was a clear no on both counts.
So I allowed myself 3/4 of a cup of fairly strong coffee each morning (I added about 1/3 cup of milk to it to add calcium and to fill up the cup) and didn't pay attention to how much tea I drank, as long as it was decaf and had no issues at all...for what it's worth.

Isn't it the best thing ever? :D When I was pregnant with Nicholas, I never needed maternity clothes and didn't even show until around 7 months. My mom told me today that I look now at 5 months the way I did with Nicholas at 9 months. This little one is very much -- "hello, I am HERE." The bella band means I can still wear all my regular jeans and no one is the wiser.
aprilbride - two weeks is definitely way better. ;) Hopefully it will just go away on its own, so not worrying yet.

Went to the midwife on Tuesday and shot up from 37cm last week to 42cm this week, and gaining 2# a week these days (22# total). She was concerned and sent me for an ultrasound and found out that the baby is big (8#1oz give or take a #) and that there is some excess fluid, but nothing to be concerned about. Now we just "let nature take its course"...trying to be patient and adjust my expectations to my due date (10/10), I was SO sure I was going to be early but it doesn't look that way! Had some real deal I-can't-walk contractions in Target on Sunday but they faded...wishing everyone well.

Regarding the tea/coffee issue - I've just been drinking decaf tea. I'm not a big coffee drinker to begin with (just occasional latte or cappucino or espresso) so it wasn't hard for me to stick with tea. Now, the decaf does lack a certain punch but since my favorite kind (Earl Grey) comes in decaf... I've been okay.
I plan on acquiring a bella band soon. There's a store near me where I can try one on.... I'm on the cusp between two sizes and am not sure whether to order bigger or smaller. Anyone with experience?
Erin... I too am having sleeping troubles. BUT I'm exhausted to boot - even though I'm getting 8 + hours I feel like I'm getting 5 every night. My problem isn't so much going to sleep, it's getting back to sleep after bathroom trips/waking up in the night. Last night I lost an hour and 15 minutes. :( It's weird... but I'm almost getting used to it. Getting straight in the shower after dragging myself out of bed helps too.
I found out that I have to have my thyroid meds checked monthly while pg. Even MORE poking and prodding. Luckily yesterday's check was AOk. :D

Wow! Aren’t we an active bunch these days! Welcome all the newbies!
First trimester mommies, hang in there if you can, it does get easier after the zombie-tiredness subsides. Also don’t forget to take your vitamins (if you can keep them down) I’m always a bit anemic so I remember feeling like the walking dead during the first tri. I had to attend a conference in April at about 10 weeks and I remember going up to my hotel room between seminars and sitting in the lounge chair and wondering how to muster the energy to pull myself out of it, and it was about 3:00 pm. Then as things went on there were some days I had to figure out if I drank extra caffeine because into the late evening I was bouncing off the walls. I have this hypothesis that the first trimester tiredness is just a preview of what the first three months will look like as a new mommy! Trial run sleep deprivation.
Checking in at 31 weeks here. Nice to be in the 3rd trimester home stretch now. Only 8 more weeks for me, since I’m doing a planned C. Tomorrow I go talk to my dr about scheduling the date, so hopefully she’ll let me push it to 11/26 instead of 11/22 (Thanksgiving!) which will probably mean 11/21. I will also find out when I can go off work, which I’m looking forward to since negotiating a 2-year old in the morning gets harder as I get bigger. Overall, feeling pretty good though. Sleeping is getting tougher, I get up at least once a night for the potty run, and also because my pelvic bones are hurting (like they did with DS1) and no position is all that comfortable anymore. Also, this is kind of weird, but this time the midwife told me that the placenta was high up on the right side, and she sometimes will say she’s listening to the baby through the placenta, so when I sleep I’m a bit freaked about sleeping on my right side because I don’t want to smoosh the placenta. I had no idea where the placenta was last time, but this time knowing its location kind of freaks me out. So back sleeping's a no-no, right side freaks me out, tummy sleeping is a thing of the past, and the left side just loses it's appeal in the 6th hour!
Feeling encouraged from a few friends who have just had 2nd C-section babies who say the recovery is much better. Something about not getting induced that takes away that hit-by-a-truck feeling of a long labor then c section. Oh here’s one bit of advice for the first time mommies on this thread… I couldn’t believe the horrendous rat’s nest of knots that the back of my hair formed during my labor. My advice -- tie your hair up or braid it if you can (mine’s a little longer than shoulder length) so you can still be cute for your first few visitors! Something to pack for your hospital bag – a detangling comb!
So this weekend we’re going to paint her room and maybe I’ll venture to start thinking about my hospital bag!
Claudia – I thought that was you in the magazine! What a cool story. And now we have a celebrity mommy among our midst! I love seeing BB people in the magazine.

No experience (yet) with the Bella Band but while I was at their website yesterday and checking the sizing chart, they said if you are between sizes you should go with the smaller of the two...

Good morning everyone! Checking in 22weeks and 3 days!!
In response to the bella band.
I bought one in black at about 12 weeks. I thought how great it would be!!
For me it never was super comfy. My clothes slipped down and the band stayed up. After each potty an adjustment is needed.
I only used it twice until recently...Last week..
I needed a really nice pair of slacks and was not buying one. I took the biggest pair I had and used the band. I still had the slippage but for 1 day it was fine and no one was the wiser!!

Hi everyone! And welcome to all the newbies. I am so happy for you all, best wishes to everyone for a happy, healthy pregnancy!
My siatic nerve has been acting up again. It was only every few days it would bother me, but lately its been every day. The nurse practicioner at my doctor's office told me it will only get worse as the baby grows. Gee, thanks! So I've been using ice packs and doing some stretches. I am def going to purchase a prenatal yoga DVD this weekend. I hope that will help.
Some exciting news, DH felt Baby K move this morning! Certain positions I lay in, I know she'll move, so I had him put his hand there, and sure enough, he felt it! He was so excited. And to make it even sweeter, today is our 1-year wedding anniversary! So that was a nice, extra little gift for him. :)
I have one of her ultrasound pictures on my desk at work and sometimes I find myself just starting at it. I am so in love with her already.
Have a good weekend ladies! We are off to Atlantic City this afternoon, hopefully to win a little cash! :D
