Since there are frequent requests for Napa visitor ideas here (and before I forget about it again!) I thought I'd post this head's up about a new food and dining market opening in Napa:
The Oxbow Public Market (http://www.oxbowpublicmarket.com/index.htm) project is underway and poised to become the local gathering place for food and wine in the Napa Valley. The 40,000 square foot marketplace, which includes a scenic outdoor deck with seating along the Napa River, will feature a diverse tenant mixture of local food vendors, artisan cafes and organic farm stands. The project is expected to break ground in late summer 2006 with opening planned for autumn 2007.

Ooooh, how exciting!! It sounds like a smaller version of San Francisco's Ferry Building Marketplace. We might have to make a side-trip to Napa when we are in Sonoma in November to check it out.
Thanks, Canice!

Yup, we know the people opening the bakery there and it's going to be really cool. It's the same developer who did the Ferry Building renovation, and there are going to be a lot of similarities (although on a smaller scale). That whole part of Napa is going through major renewal and renovation, with some very fancy hotels going in (like the Ritz!), a riverfront promenade, and all kinds of other stuff.

Well the crowning jewel of the trip is that we've booked the private dining room at The French Laundry.:D
Other than that...dinner at Redd and Auberge, lunch at CIA and Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen. We're also doing a picnic one day. I've lost track of what wineries we're going to.:p

Oooo, a return trip to FL? We talked about going in the fall to experience a very different seasonal menu...will have to put out a reminder ;) . But private room? The whole place feels like a private room! Where is it? How many does it seat?
I haven't been to Redd but have heard pretty great things; if you have the time and inclination, I'd love to hear what you think of that and CIA. Haven't been to that one in *years* and was thinking of taking my mom for a fall ladies' lunch.
Hope you have a wonderful trip, should be a spectacular time of year for a visit!
