Nellie's™ Dryerballs are a safe, toxic free and environmentally friendly way to soften your laundry.
Nellie's™ Dryerballs are designed to reduce drying time and soften fabrics naturally without using chemical fabric softeners. As Nellie's™ Dryerballs tumble around in the dryer they lift and separate fabrics allowing air to flow more efficiently thus reducing drying time up to 25%. Saves time and money! The unique design of the Dryerballs nodules relaxes the fibers during the drying cycle.
Clothes feel softer and towels are more absorbent. 10 min on medium heat will push wrinkles right out, which means less ironing! Guaranteed to last you 3-5 years!

I have been using these in my dryer for quite a while now. They really help mix the clothes up so that they dry more completely and faster. I found that when I got my new dryer (it does extra large loads) that sometimes there would be an article of clothing that would get stuck and stay damp and very wrinkled. These dryer balls solved that problem.

Hey -- cool! Thanks, Sally. I saw these at WalMart and wondered if they were actually useful-- I'm in an apartment now, and it DOES have laundry, but only a dryer -- no line. And I hate the smell of fabric softener sheets, while my roommate has eczema and can't use anything scented or chemical at all.

Think I will give them a try. Do they reduce static too?

I don't know about Nellie's balls, but tennis balls do the same thing. (In case you can't find Nellie's)

I have them and never use them. I got them as a gift at Christmas and did try to use them, but I couldn't hack the sound of them banging against the dryer walls.

Consumer Reports tested them out a few months back, and according to them, they really didn't reduce static much. I don't think they necessarily were trying to verify whether or not they reduced drying time, though. I don't have the issue any longer, so I can't look up the details. My MIL has them and, although she swears by them, I can also vouch for the fact that they are pretty darn loud.
