After all of the suggestions on the Monster Cookie I would like to try it out. I also have a recipe from MasterCook but the ingredients are different. Is the one posted here a lightened up version or just different?

Also, how do you downlowd from MasterCook when it shows the message ***exported from MasterCook***???

I wish I had an answer to your question..I am new to the Monster Cookie Craze myself! I actually have a stupid question..are rolled oats just Quaker Oats or something else? (i.e. 1 minute or old-fashioned?) It seems there are so many products out there I want to use the right thing! Thanks for your help!
p.s. I am also unsure of how to import recipes..can't help you there either! Sorry!

Old fashioned oats and Quick oats can be used interchangeably but Instant oats is a different product and shouldn't be used in recipes calling for oats.

Thanks for the info, Elinor!
I have just "reviewed" the monster cookie recipe...the results are just in...Do NOT bake these cookies on a rainy day under any circumstances...they are completely addictive! It rained a lot yesterday and let's just say I kissed Weight Watchers good-bye for about a week! I refrigerated the dough as suggested, after my first batch, and preferred the thicker cookies. I think they are better after they sit a bit and the flavors come out. I had better freeze them because we are expecting rain for a few more days! Hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

The recipe I posted is not a lightened recipe, although I do usually use Shedd's spread for the butter and they turn out fine. As Elinor pointed out, you can use either kind of oats, but I prefer the old-fashioned oats; they are chewier. I don't even buy quick oats anymore!

For the monster cookies, I was thinking about using soynut butter for all/some of the peanut butter. Oats and soy-what a great excuse for eating a dozen cookies in one sitting!

Has anyone tried this?

2 cups sugar 1 cup sugar
2 cups brown sugar 1 cup brown sugar
4 eggs 2 eggs

2 tsp. Baking Soda 1 tsp. Baking Soda
12 oz. Chocolate Chips 6 oz. Chocolate Chips
12 oz. Peanut Butter Chips 6 oz. Peanut Butter Chips
3 Cups Chopped Nuts 1 ½ Cups Chopped Nuts

1) Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2) Cream together butter, sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
3) In separate large bowl mix together flour, oatmeal flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda.
4) Blend into creamed ingredients, add chips and nuts.
5) Bake for 10 minutes*

Thanks so much for posting this recipe, Shelly! I have not ever tried Shedd's spread in baking. Do you also use it in other recipes? I guess I will be FORCED to bake them again using Shedd's spread and regular rolled oats! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif
