I'm so excited about next weekend! Anyway, I guess I'm wondering if there are any runners going who are planning to get some runs in on the weekend. One-track-minded as I am, I don't like to take off more than a day (if that) from running, so I'll probably run at least a little bit while I'm there. Anyone else?

if you'd consider walking, I'm game. Can't run.

Emilycat, I'll go running with you
if you'd like. I'm hoping to run
in a 10K in August. Maybe there's
a track nearby. I'll bring my running
shoes!

I happened to see this thread, live in B'ham and wanted to let you know of a great place to run. There are wonderful trails in and around the Mountain Brook area. The CL headquaters are located on Lakeshore Drive. If you go straight down Lakeshore towards Mountain Brook (you will pass a mall on the right that is currently under construction...it is quite the eyesore right now, but a good landmark) - after the red light in front of the mall, keep going straight...you go through about 2-3 more red lights, right in a row. You will enter a more residential area and will begin to see the trails on the right. They are really beautiful and a very popular place to go running.

Have a great time and enjoy our fair city!

KLynn,

Thanks so much for that information! That's really great to know; I've been searching on the internet in hopes of finding some guide to running in B-ham, but haven't found a darned thing. This is wonderful; now I know where I'll be before the sun's up! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
BTW, do you know how many miles the trails cover?

I'm not a runner but I would definitely like to get a walk or two in besides the hike if anyone is interested early Friday or early Saturday.

oh, I have no idea how many miles...at least 3 maybe?? (That is a major guess). There are lots of neighborhood side streets to veer down to make it longer, if you want...

Sorry - I am not a runner...maybe someday...!!

I am bringing my running shoes, but thought I'd just hit the fitness center in the hotel. I could be convinced to join you, Emily, but I think you're a little out of my league. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
