I want to play...slow cook BBQ, that sounds like it is screaming for a good wheat beer.
My suggestions:
Alligash wheat beer (may be hard to find, but very good)
Blue Moon (belgian white ale)
If you have access to German beer, I would go for a Tucher. Excellent wheat beer.
Sound good?

I'm in! Slow BBQ definitely needs to have Home Fries with it. These are my husband's favorite way to have potatoes--they're from "Eating Well" May/June 1998 (I hope it's okay not to use a CL recipe).
Home Fries
Cut 1 1/2 lb. scrubbed Yukon Gold potatoes into 8 wedges each. Toss with 2 tsp olive oil, 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper. Spread on a lightly oiled baking sheet. Bake in upper third of a 450 oven for 20 minutes. Turn potatoes and bake for 15-20 minutes more, or until golden brown and tender. Makes 4 servings.
Notes: I always use extra-virgin olive oil and kosher salt -- both give this a huge flavor boost.
Here's the menu so far:
Appetizer:
Bread:
Entree: Slow BBQ
Side: Home Fries
Second Side:
Dessert:
Wine/Beer: Alligash wheat beer
Blue Moon

Well, I made the Home Fries last night. I'm glad I got the mag out to type up the recipe because there were a few things I had been doing wrong from memory. These were delicious-toasty brown with lots of flavor and low-fat to boot! We had them with a stuffed acorn squash recipe I got from the BB and the Green Beans w/Browned Red Onions from Nov '99 CL. It was a yummy dinner!

Well, I was kind of disappointed in the BBQ... #1 - it was kind of tough
#2 (not its fault) I am from the Midwest where we make pork BBQ..this was beef BBQ and am not a huge beef fan.
I would probably make it again, just with pork.
