I know everyone has different types of dinners ( or lunch, brunch etc), but we just had a blast this evening and all we did was eat and talk.

Our theme was on Comfort Foods and our menu was as follows:
Corn and Chicken Chowder
Mashed Potatoes
Green Beans with olives
Italion Meat Loaf
Biscotti with home made hot chocolate
Apple Crip

Compared to many groups our group may be considered pretty small ( typically no more than 5 people), and yet the discussion about food and health, and life in general are always so eye opening and truly insightful. I always leave our dinners completely inspired and re-energized about cooking healthfully, and living actively.

It's funny, from the surface, we are a group that in most cases would most likely have never met - Our group is made up of a banker, another member works for an investment house, a professor, a health specialist, a web designer, and a consultant, - age gaps are there, cultural, even most likely political preferences, yet food connects the conversation to enable each of us to discover new things beyond our own "comfort zones"

So, for anyone desiring to start a supper club, or in the midst of one, please know it is not only a fun way to spend a few hours, but also a valuable way to learn.

Marcia, I love your post. I belong to a supper club, and was just telling someone today, in fact, how "eclectic" a group ours is, and how if not for CL, we would likely never have met or become friends. In the usual areas (professions, hobbies, age, etc), we are very dissimilar, but the love of cooking and Cooking Light has brought us together and given us a common thread. We enjoy our get togethers very much, and no one ever misses (we've been getting together every month since last June). Our latest meeting was this past Saturday, for brunch. We had mimosas, Feta omelette with Breadcrumbs, Hash Brown Casserole, Cheese Blintzes with strawberries, Sour Cream Coffeecake, White Chocolate Apricot Muffins, and Jalapeno Corn Bread. It was all wonderful, and we had such a great time. Next month we are going back to dinner, but we have decided to assign ourselves the course we least like making. For me, that's soup, so I will be making soup. We're trying to get ourselves to stretch a little, and broaden our scopes a little. It will be fun, and delicious as always, but I just wanted to say that I agree with you, I now have a new set of friends I never would have met otherwise, and I enjoy them all thoroughly!
