Does anyone have any idea how many CL Supper Clubs there are out there? I thought it might be interesting to find out.

I think it'd be a GREAT idea if CL planning to do a 1-year-anniversary article of the start of the supper clubs. I think the article came out in June last year.

It would be interesting to find out how many clubs are out there. Cooking Light, see what you started!! We just had our first get-together and it was a complete success! We're in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles.

As far as I know - we are the only group in San Francisco. There are other groups in the Bay Area though.

I think CL should do an anniversary article featuring groups from around the country - what a great idea!!

That is a good idea! I think there are two, possibly three clubs in the northeast Massachusetts, Southern New Hampshire, and Southern Maine areas. There was also some talk of a group in the Portland Maine area. Our group (Seacoast area of NH, ME and border towns in Mass) has been going since July and we are having a great time! I'm sure there may be others around I don't know about. Angie

I have to say I am disappointed that with all the supper clubs that are going on out there, there are almost no posts with reviews of the supper club dinners! I love hearing about what other people are doing/eating, and CL went to the trouble of giving us a separate board, just for that. I always post our supper club's reviews, and they sit, mostly unread. Please everyone who is in a supper club, would you mind posting which recipes you made, how you liked them, any special themes or activities you are doing, etc.? I enjoy living vicariously thorugh all of you! Thanks!!

I'm also in one started in "Annapolis, MD" though we meet in other places too since we aren't all from Annapolis. It's neat to know there's another one out there in the same area!!

?? I thought this was the Supper Club BB ?? And I have read a few postings listing in detail the recipes made, good/bad/etc.

Where else should I be looking/reading/posting about Supper Clubs?

Hi, we have a dinner club that consist of 9 women from southeastern Massachusetts. We have been meeting since, last August (2000).

SusanMac,

This is the Supper Club BB, I'm not trying to say we are in the wrong place. There have indeed been a very few postings about reviews, etc., but as people on this particular thread are noting, there are a LOT of clubs out there, and there is MAYBE one posting a week (if that) of someone's supper club review. I just thought that if there are that many clubs going on out there, there should be a whole lot more postings. But it seems that most of the clubs don't take the time to post their reviews each month, which is all I'm asking for.

In the last 30 days, there were only 5 club reviews, one of which was my own. A whole entire BB devoted to supper clubs, and there were 5 posts in a MONTH. That's just disappointing to me, as I love our supper club, and would love to hear about what other people are doing (gives our group some new ideas, too). Anyhow, that's the only point I was trying to make. Sorry if I didn't clarify myself well the first time.

There's a supper club in the San Jose/Peninsula area that has been meeting since last summer! We've had our share of goof-ups - I'll post them on the other board soon.

There is a relatively new one in the TriValley area of SF. We met once already and will meet again in May.

Grace, I just wanted to chime in and tell you that I do appreciate your posts! I'm in a new group that hasn't met yet but have enjoyed "lurking" on this particular board and getting ideas! That is why I've read the posts but never responded. Please keep it up and I know someone from our group will reciprocate when the times comes.

I am a member of a group in the suburbs of D.C. - Bethesda/Silver Spring Area. We had our first meeting in August 2000 at a restauraunt in downtown Bethesda, and have met for our dinners faithfully ever since. In fact at our last dinner (this past Sunday), we even discussed our group's "anniversary" and our plans to celebrate. I hope Cooking Light conducts an anniversary issue - through that article in June of 2000, you inspired a multi-racial, multi cultural, and multi - age group to gather and have a wonderful time together on a monthly basis over the celebration of food.

Thank you, thank you thank you...we are even inspired to gather our menus into a mini - cookbook for the group - we have been so inspired!
Marcia
