Hi! Just thought I'd review the menu we had here in Maryland this past Saturday.

Black Bean Lasagne--everyone thought this was very good. Two ladies mentioned how they didn't think they would have tried it because of the beans and pasta being too starchy together, but they didn't have a problem with it.

Tequilla-Lime Marinaded Flank Steak --Though I didn't have any because I don't eat beef, it looked very good. Everyone else ate it and liked it.

Avacado Salsa-- Myself and another club member are not fans of avacado, but we both agreed this was very tasty, as did the others.

Spicy Chicken and Jicama Salad-- We were all a little hesitate (especially the lady who made it) about this one, though it looked good (as well as pretty) in the picture. We decided we all liked it. Which I'm sure the chef was pleased about--she had a very difficult time finding jicama and wasn't sure she had actually found it because it looks so much like a turnip. In the end we all decided it was in fact was a jicama.

All in all a very tasty, pleasing meal!

Wow - I applaud you all for being so adventurous and trying a whole menu of items you weren't so "sure" about! That has been my favorite part of our supper club, moving out of my "box", and appreciating new ideas and flavors.

Your dinner sounds like it was wonderful, and I'm glad everything got a good review. Thansk for taking the time to report back!

Thanks for the report. Not long ago I tried jicama for the first time and liked it. I have been thinking of trying that recipe, and now probably will! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Gina

I also like the avocado salsa and the others are on my to-try list, except the Tequilla-Lime Chicken. What issue is that from? I would like to have that recipe.

Yes, we are an adventurous group (and fun I might add http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif)! I am very glad that we are adverturous since my motivation for joining a cooking club was to be able to try things I normally wouldn't try (whether that's making or simply eating the dish). I am not a fan of fish, but am open minded and have tried (and often times liked) the fish we have prepared. I look forward to our meals every month!

Terry--the Tequilla-Lime Marinaded Steak was from either March or April 2001. Can't remember which issue because we were making things from both issues.
