Well folks, it's that time again. Actually, we were early this month. We usually meet later in the month so we will already have our next month's issue to choose the next month's menu from, but no one has the June issue yet. Oh well.
This was the first anniversary of our Supper Club. Hard to believe we've been doing this a year already. We celebrated with Champagne, and one member brought "gifts"....she bought wooden spoons and decorated them by writing each person's name and Cooking Light Supper Club on them and tied them up with ribbons. I got a huge decorated rolling pin since I was the one that put the club together. We had a ball, as usual.
Here was the menu:
Chicken Tagine with Lemons and Olives - this was great. The hostess made it in a crock pot rather than in a tagine, but it was still wonderful. We rated it a 7/8.
Orange Radish Salad - this was made with the carrot shaped white Japanese radishes rather than the small red radishes we are used to. Despite the fact that it REEKED!!!!!!!!, it tasted great (to most of us, anyway). I would definitely make this again. We couldn't get over the bad smell of this (we howled all night and made jokes about it), but really, it tasted great. The ratings ranged from 4 to 8 (I gave it an 8)
Potatoes Anna - Well, as I've mentioned before, I've made this one a couple of times before, and it's still a winner. Everyone went crazy over this dish. I made it with regular baking potatoes this time, but I've made it before with Yukon Golds, and I thought it was even better with the Yukon Golds. This got a 9/10 from everyone.
Herb-Marinated Fresh Mozzerella Wraps - this one was actually from the April issue, and it was AWESOME!! Everyone loved this one, and I'll make this again for sure. This one got a 9/10 from everyone too.
Chocolate Mint Cookies - everyone loved these. They were soft and chewy, not crispy, and one person said they thought they tasted like Girl Scout Cookies.
Double Ginger Cookies - Also a winner. I personally liked these the best, but I think overall the two cookies were tied. These cookies were also soft and chewy, and the candied ginger, which can sometimes be overpowering, was just perfect. A keeper.
Again, a great time was had by all. We managed to discuss bodily functions again! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif (Gotta cut us off from the wine and champagne, I think!)
