Kraft recalls white chocolate

Packaged foods maker Kraft Foods (Charts) issued a recall in the U.S. for its Baker's Premium White Chocolate Baking Squares due to concerns that the product may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.

The affected packages have UPC Code 0043000252200 and four best-when-used-by dates: 31 MAR 2008 XCZ; 01 APR 2008 XCZ; 02 APR 2008 XCZ; and 03 APR 2008 XCZ, the company said late Wednesday.

After suffering through salmonella over Thanksgiving last year I am very thankful that I don't like white chocolate and don't have any.

Is salmonella a concern if the chocolate is used in baked goods? I wouldn't think so, but not sure. I'll still double check my pantry b/c a lot of samply goes by my kids before the baking would occur.

Thanks for the heads up.
