Okay you asked for it..... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif Good Luck

These are instructions if you use Internet Explorer. If you use Netscape it may be a little different.

First of all you have to go to a site that offers graphics (gifs or jpegs) and some ask that you follow their rules if using for personal webpages.
Below these instructions is a site to go to and get you started. The html instructions there are for webtv, just ignore them and use his graphics (click on the file name to see the graphic).

1)...Choose your graphic.
2)...Place your curser over the graphic you have chosen and click on the right hand mouse button.
3)...A screen will appear, Right click again onto properties.
4)...Another screen will appear.
5)...Highlight the graphics URL.
6)...Then place your curser directly over this and Right click. Choose copy
7)...Now Left click onto cancel.
8)...Go to the site where you wish to place you image.
9)...Right click, choose paste and the graphic's URL will appear.
10).Before the URL type and after the URL type

It will look like this
graphic url here

Press submit button and when your message comes up your graphic will appear.
There must be NO gaps between the boxes and the URL, and the brackets MUST be the square ones NOT the rounded ones, and don't forget the slash in the second set of bracket

I'm going to do a bad, bad thing...but it's only an experiment, I promise!

FYI...I removed the link to my picture...wanted to be sure it didn't cause any problems because of its size. Would love to "meet" the rest of you gals!

Nice to meet you Deanna! You are a nice looking lady. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Do you have your own website since you were able to post a photo? Just don't want the others to get confused with photos and graphics. Applying photos are totally different from the instructions that I provided. I don't know how to apply personal photos. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif

What fun -- it IS nice to "meet" you http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

And I noticed that download time doesn't seem affected by your photo. What type of file is it?

Mamasue, I follwed the instructions you gave. It worked perfectly.

The file is a .jpeg. We had a family picnic on Sunday and my sister brought her digital camera. Then she created a website where she posted a be-jillion pictures for the whole family to view, download, or whatever. (I have 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and more in-laws, nieces, and nephews than I could ever count).

Deanna,

Hmmmm.....must of worked because the photo had a jpeg extension on it and of course because it was on a website it had a url address. Otherwise, if you tried to scan a picture and then post it wouldn't work because you need a url address (my guess) http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Anyway...great picture and handsome baby boy too...with or without "gas" LOL http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Nice to meet you Deanna! I love the oval "mat" around your photo -- neat effect!

Just wanted to give this a try...

It worked! Thanks for the instructions, Mamasue. I did it with Netscape Communicator -- it was actually a little simpler on Netscape.

Beth

Thanks for the explanation, Sue.

Deanna-- It's nice to "see" you and your good-looking son.

And Beth-- where'd you get ahold of that picture of me doing what I do best? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Thanks, everybody.

I think adding graphics to our posts will be fun (and informative...see Gail's post regarding "Mandoline.")

This has been fun reading...even got my husband away from the Braves games twice! Love the graphics and enjoyed the picture, aslong as I don't have to post mine. Ugh. I was rolling when I saw BethR's smiley....looks like my first son years ago when he was nursing and giving commentary at the same time. Honest.

Oh, now I'm LOL! I nursed two sons and I know exactly the face you're talking about -- and it does look like that smiley!

Mamasue: You are correct, simply scanning and attaching a photo would not work.

Anyone can start their own website...there are free ones all over. Then you just "upload" an image from your computer's hard drive to the web page, and then you can "link" to it, which is what I have done to get my photo to appear here.

I have been trying to figure out what the dancing thing is, too! I think it is a turtle. Or an ardvaark, maybe..... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif (notice I am still using the easy graphics!!!)

I loved your picture Deanna -- it is so nice to have a face to go along with all of your great comments.

The instructions were helpful, and now I have a project to work on this weekend!

Yep! It's a turtle-ballerina!! Just wanted to give you all a laugh!

I'm going to remove the link to my picture, it seems to take up a lot of room. If anybody else has a photo...it would be nice to "meet" all of you, too!
