I guess I don't understand why they can't find a home for this dog in the area where it was found instead of spending all of their resources to drive it to Oklahoma.
I could understand transporting livestock or an exotic animal that might be hard to place, but not this...

It appears that the rescue that will find the dog a home is 6 hours from where she was found - the person who found her is not necessarily in a position to place/care for the dog herself - and may be the nearest place that would/could take the dog.

I think what Canice says is right. Its so hard to find stray/shelter dogs homes. We have a wonderful program here, where our shelter takes abut 30 dogs andfor 6 weeks they are sent to family with children 10 and up and the child is responsible for their care and training and then they graduate and put up for adoption. It breaks my heart when I see every week, the news showcases one of the dogs that hasnt got adopted that graduated weeks before and they are back at the shelter waiting and waiting.
This dog has a chance at a rescue place vs probably being taken to a shelter that could possibly be a kill shelter. These transports are very popular to get dogs and cats to new homes. If I lived close by, I would probably drive her the whole way.

My mom and dad do transport for a golden retriever rescue organization in MN. A lot of the transports are to get the dog from where it was found or surrendered to a foster home that can care for it until it finds a forever home.

Your story about the "graduate" dogs just breaks my heart. We have two shelter dogs and I wish we had room/money for more. I hope this beautiful dog finds a home soon. She is so pretty with those green eyes.
