View Full Version : Fall Shoes/Boots?

I know there was already a thread about fall fashion, but I am talking strictly footwear here.

I went to the mall to try to find a pair of brown clogs to replace a pair of Clark's that have seen better days. Nothing too unusual, just nice shoes I can wear with jeans, khakis, etc. When I bought these Clarks, I remember trying on lots of pairs and not being able to decide which to get.

Well, apparently clogs are no longer "in"? In the whole Macy's display, all I saw were boots, boots, and more boots. Specifically those ankle boots, that someone here described as Pat Benetar-esque!

I like those low boots with jeans too, but sometimes I just want to slip into a pair of clogs or something more comfortable to walk in, esp. if I am going shopping and will be in the dressing room, etc.

The only other shoes I saw that could be worn with nice jeans were those flats that are shaped like ballet shoes without the strap - i.e. not a loafer or moccasin, but a flat shoe that shows a lot of your foot/sock. Since I wear a size 9, I don't feel like they are the most flattering shoe on me.

What shoe fashions are you finding in your stores? I am sure I can still find clogs on Zappos, but I am wondering if I will feel hopelessly out of style wearing them???

Well then I'm hopelessly out of style with my awesome new Danskos!

I don't care, though, they are so comfortable, that I'll bear any scorn I may get. ;)

Ditto. I have a black pair and a burgundy pair (the "Professional"), and I wear them just about every day. A fashion maven I am not, but they're comfy and I'm looking to expand the color repertoire. ;)

I think Marcelle is calling my name. :)

Clogs aren't in fashion but they aren't out of fashion either.

I don't think people wear them because they are stylish but because they feel good on one's feet -- there are lots of shoes that fall into this category -- Merrells come to mind.

I have Dansko type clogs but I certainly don't think of them as fashionable or trendy -- don't mean this in a negative way but just that there is fashion -- and then there are things like clogs -- or Clarks for that matter.:)

I agree with you both. And I am not a trendsetter, by any means. I am just afraid that if I buy the clogs I will later wish I had bought the cute boots that everyone is now wearing. (Hmmm. . . that makes me sound like a lemming).

Born always has some sort of clog type shoe.

In lieu of clogs, you might consider some driving loafers. I have a pair of black suede loafers that take me everywhere. They especially look good with jeans, but they go well with chinos as well.

I don't see it as either/or -- Clogs or comfy shoes like Dansko, ECCO etc. are beyond trends so one can wear them for several years -- until they cease to become cushioned or at worn beyond respectability.

Woman does not live by clogs alone.:D :D

I know! I think the Marcelle is calling my name as well. Especially in Hickory.
I also own the Mariel in wine, Professional in Cordovan and White, which I had to buy for work, and will soon have a pair in Black. I will never need new shoes again!

I have such problems though. I'm not sure whether I should wear the black ones at work, or have my friend paint the white ones and wear those there...what goes best with mint/light green surgical scrubs??? A huge part of me wants the black ones to wear at home. ACK! ;)
