Hi-I saw some small dark chocolate tart like shells at the store. I would love to serve them at a party I have coming up but am not sure what to put in them. The one thing I thought of is the pumpkin filling that you use for the cannoli shell filling. I don't know about putting a topping of some kind on that???
What else could I fill them with? Nothing that has to cook so...

Chocolate mousse or any other flavor mousse

Berries and cream -- always good

A scoop of ice cream or sorbet

Vanilla custard -- this time of year with pears?

Any of the above with pommegranates or cranberries

Quite frankly, most cool desserts could be adapted to be served in a chocolate shell. Something baked but served cool could be scooped into the shells after cooling.

- Anything that involves peanut butter

- Cheesecake filling (no bake)

- Pudding

- Everything listed above :)

Thanks for the ideas. I didn't think about cooking something first and then scooping it in. I wonder if the chocolate they use to make the shells is good? I mean does it taste like good dark chocolate. Have to buy a box and see, I guess.

I'm sure this varies widely by brand, but the chocolate shells I've had before (at someone else's house) were a bit waxy. Still good and definately a lovely presentation, though, and most people aren't as picky about the quality of their chocolate as we foodies tend to be.
