My daughter has to write a 3rd grade book report on the book Lucy Rose, Here's the Thing About Me. She needs to write a letter to the author, Katy Kelly and the teacher would like a "real" address. The only thing I can come up with is an address I found at Random House

Addresses

Agent—c/o Author Mail, Delacorte Press, Bantam Dell, 1745 Broadway, New York, NY 10019.

Does that look like it would be right? I've never written to an author before... I thought there might be someone out there with more insight to this!

Thanks,
Kim & Olivia

I think that's probably what I would do or suggest for my son too.

I don't think you'll find a better address. It will eventually get to her, the publisher probably holds all the fan mail and sends it to her in batches. That is really the only way to reach an author unless he/she has a website and lists a PO box or something.

I see she is or was an editor at US News and World Report. You could also try reaching her there if she is still on staff (I could not be sure from my quick search).

...and a third grader was suppose to figure that out for herself??
**sheesh**

I am not getting the value of that assignment.

I agreee that you will not get a better address - good job, mom!
