This is a fun vocabulary game(time waster) and they donate grains of rice for every right answer. :)

198,452 grains in a pound of rice.
33,075 grains in a rice ball.
It really adds up quick!

This is nifty. Snopes has nothing on it--does anyone have outside confirmation they actually send the rice?

It's recognized on the UN's world food Programme's website

Thanks. I am going to get my DD's onto this site. They can practice vocab whilst donating to a worthy cause - a win/win situation.

That was fun. I could hardly get above 30. I need to brush up on my vocab! I hope it really does help fight hunger.

Hey, waitaminute. Escarole doesn't mean endive. :)

Hey, waitaminute. Escarole doesn't mean endive. :)
I think that Escarole is of the endive family...
Found this in an online dictionary...
There are three main varieties of endive: Frisée, curly endive and escarole.
Curly endive (sometimes mistakenly called chicory in the United States) has green, rimmed, curly outer leaves.
Frisée has finely cut, frizzy leaves.
Escarole has broad, pale green leaves and is less bitter than the other varieties.
And this on Dictionary.com
dav·en·port /ˈdævənˌpɔrt, -ˌpoʊrt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[dav-uhn-pawrt, -pohrt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. a large sofa, often one convertible into a bed.
2. Chiefly British. a small writing desk.
[Origin: 1850–55; the desk is said to be named after a Captain Davenport who first commissioned it]

There was a nice segment on NPR about Free Rice this morning. It's fed a lot of people.
Also the founder hired a dictionary company to plug words in because people have been getting up to 50. Classrooms are also using it as are people trying to learn English.
He also said it's rare to get up to 45 though.
