I thought I remembered a thread on this but couldn't find it.

I saw this movie tonight and thought it was outstanding. Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe should both be nominated for best actor and I wouldn't be able to decide who should get it. True story as well. Highly recommend it. its 2 1/2 hours long.

I just saw this and I have to agree. Denzel and Russell should both be nominated, but I'd vote for Denzel to win. He just wowed me. I'd recommend it as well. The time just flew by, didn't seem like 2 1/2 hours.

I thought it was a good movie. I was suprised there wasn't a bigger scandal with the way he brought the drugs into the country.

I also thought Russell and Denzel did fantastic acting. Denzel deserves an Oscar for this one more than from that turd of a movie, Training Day.

Javier Bardem should also be nominated and will win for No Country for Old Men.

If you've seen that one you'll know what I mean. His character is still in my head a week later!!!

I liked the movie, but have my reservations on how some of the story was portrayed. CNN did an interesting article on the real Frank Lucas which is worth reading. Here is one quote that is not surprising just interesting:

"Russell Crowe plays Roberts in the film, though the character is a composite of the many detectives and prosecutors who arrested and tried Lucas. Lucas for a moment hesitates to speak ill of his friend, but the inflated screen persona given to Roberts riles him.

"Richie Roberts and his crack crew couldn't catch a ... bad cold in Alaska in the wintertime," he says with undimmed competitiveness. "They were the bad-news cops.""

How violent/bloody is this movie? I'd love to see it but can be kind of sensitive to those things...

It has quite a bit of violence and blood. I generally don't like that either so I just close my eyes.
