Wow, we are already half way through 2001. During the recent CL BB downtime (jury is still out on the new BB) I've actually been home and not out on the road for work. Here is a glimpse as to just how anal and obsessive I can be. Don't forget, I am an accountant in a *very* technical household.

So my recent project was to create an index of the 2001 recipes for Jan/Feb - July. There are enough of them now that I can't remember what recipe was in which issue, and the boards were down, so I couldn't pop in to do a quick search for reviews to give me a clue as to which month to look into. Once I had my index complete, I couldn't resist running a few stats. Here is what I discovered...

Total number of recipes Year to Date (YTD) - 506

Jan/Feb - 77
March - 108 (glad there are so many after the 2 month wait! :D)
April - 89
May - 90
June - 76
July - 66 (most people were not too impressed with this issue)

Total number of pages per issue:
Jan/Feb - 168
March - 220
April - 228
May - 210
June - 204
July - 196

Ever think that there seems to be a lot of dessert recipes? Well, you are right! Desserts has been the most popular recipe category followed by Salads and Poultry (yup, there have been a lot of chicken recipes)

Desserts - 78
Salads - 53
Poultry - 46
Fish & Shellfish - 40
Soups & Stews - 39
Meatless Main Dishes - 33
Vegetables - 30
Sauces & Condiments - 28
Breads - 25
Pasta - 23
Meats - Pork - 22
Sandwiches - 22
Appetizers - 16
Grains - 16
Meats - Beef - 13
Beverages - 8
Miscellaneous - 8
Meats - Lamb - 4
Cookies - 2

I thought it was all kind of interesting.

If you are interested in have a copy of my 2001 index file, e-mail me at robin@pjrc.com

The file is in Excel v7.0. I can also create it as a text file (tab-delimited, comma delimited, etc.) I tried to get all my typos, but I don't have an editor like the fine folks at CL. :p

I'd be interested to see how it compares to last year.
It feels to me that I used a lot more recipes form last year's issues than this year. I wonder why??
