I usually use Comtrex because it does not cause drowsiness but it isn't working for me now. My sinus' are also bothering me right now but I get that all the time and it is even worse in the cold weather. I thought about trying coricidin HBP or contac but neither one of them said that it would not cause drowsiness so I passed on buying those 2. I can't really take cough syrup because the last time I did, I don't know what was in it or what brand it was but there was a drug in it that made me more than just drowsy and I swore I would never take cough medicine again!! What kind do you use and does it work? What do you use that works just for the sinus'?

I have written about this before. Try Sinus Buster, I have not had a cold or sinus infection in 2 years (knock on wood). I use this at the start of every cold and it keeps my sinuses clear and cold symptoms are gone usually the next day. Here is their web site: www.sinusbuster.com

I usually use the anti-cold type. Good luck!

Has anyone ever used a Neti Pot?

I swear by Vicks Dayquil. It is the only thing that works for me.

Hope you feel better!

I used a Neti Pot and felt like I was drowning. Many of my friends use one on a daily basis and swear by it. I think I poured too quickly, but I have to admit, it sure did clear out my sinuses.

I'm wondering if Comtrex used to have pseudo ephedrine (sp?) so the full strength may be behind the pharmacy counter. I usually like Sudafed from behind the counter for sinus issues. What symptoms other than sinuses are you feeling?

For me, the only thing that really works well is anything that contains pseudoephedrine. Sudafed is the brand name. So, go to the pharmacy and have them sell you some (you have to ask for it now).

Also a fan of Dayquil. And its sibling Nyquil. Nyquil will make you drowsy, which isn't really a bad thing since rest is really necessary to help get over a cold. But Dayquil is good if you have to be up and about.

I recently read an article that said the only cold medicine that really shows results is pseudophedrine (sp?) that is the main ingredient in the Sudafed that is now only sold behind the pharmacists counter. The Sudafed PF (I think its called) that is sold on the shelves is not the same. Kroger pharmacy stocks the generic Kroger brand of pseudophedrine and is a lot cheaper than Sudafed. It definitely does not cause drowsiness - it can cause the opposite, in fact, so I don't like to take it near bedtime.

I have the typical cold symtoms, sneezing, a runny nose and of course dry eyes. It also doesn't help that my sinus' are acting up too. I don't think I will try the neti pot.

I agree with the DayQuil/NyQuil idea, and also with the generic Sudafed that you have to get from the pharmacist. Pseudoephedrine is really the only thing that works reliably, but we can't buy it OTC any more, since it's used to make some kind of drug... If you have trouble sleeping, there is a 4-hour variety to use during the day, then take NyQuil at night... HTH, and hope you feel better! That feeling is just ucky!:(
