I'm working overtime right now, and decided to take a break! Grabbed my May issue of CL, and found a recipe "Spagetti Pie" that looks good. My family loves spaghetti, and this looks pretty good.

I'd appreciate any feedback on this recipe.

Thanks,

I haven't tried this recipe, but it got a lot of good reviews on the old board.

It is wonderful. My husband loves it. It's become one of our regular dinners. Just delicious- hardly any leftovers and there's only two of us!

Great dish! I recall from the other posting on this topic that several people added additional spices (me included) to kick up the flavor. My family loved it! It was very easy and economical to make.

This dish has become a favorite in my house--I've already made it several times. Each time I make it a little differently, by adding to the sauce. It tastes great with little more spices, and mushrooms and onions. Good luck.

I made this last night and my husband loved it. He's usually pretty excited when he gets meat at home. I read some other posts that said the recipe was bland, so I added salt, pepper, and oregano to the pasta and added oregano and red pepper flakes to the meat mixture. I also substituted mushrooms for the onions in the sour cream mixture. I would definitely make it again.

One of my favorites from the May issue! A great comfort food. Love it!

I have to be totally honest about this recipe even though I am obviously in the minority. At the risk of offending, my family was not impressed with this recipe at all. I read all of the positive feedback and decided I had to try it. I took the advice of adding more seasoning etc, but they still were not impressed. Though they commented that it was "hardy" and "filling" they didn't think it earned the rave reviews. Since everyone has different tastes, I felt I should post this negative feedback in case others might want to rethink trying it.

I hope this hasn't offended anyone!! Sorry!

Peggy

Thanks everyone for your review of this recipe. Peggy, you're right, everybody does have a different tastes. I noticed so many people had to "spice it up"; but it sounds like it's worth a try anyway. I plan on making it this weekend.

p.s. I just discovered something you're probably ALL aware of but me. When I post a reply, sometimes I want to reference what somebody said. I didn't know all I had to do was scroll my window down to view all the posts! Geez! I was always highlighting and saving what I typed so far, pressing the Back button, then hit reply again and paste it back in. What a hassle!!!

Peggy, I don't think you need to be worried about offending anyone by giving your opinion. Personally, I specifically look for people who didn't like the dish. That way I can make adjustments if need be.

Thanks,

Marianne

Just wanted to add our 8 thumbs up for this recipe!! My husband and I loved it and the kids ate it which is a good sign. I added some fresh herbs from the garden and some mushrooms. Very good - a real comfort food dish - can't wait to have some for lunch tomorrow!!

Oh and thanks to everyone for their feedback on this one - as the new issues come in I forget to go back to the older issues. I had this recipe dog-eared but probably would never have gone back to it had it not been for these reviews. Thanks everyone!

Lindrusso - I like your idea of the herbs and mushrooms. I wasn't interested in this dish when I first saw it, but after reading reviews like this, I think I will try it (with VegeCrumbles though...)! Thanks.

I have to agree with Peggy, I did not love this dish either. I really enjoy traditional Italian food and would prefer to have a lower calorie baked ziti. As you stated, everyone has different tastes..my husband enjoyed it!

I have to give JodiL and Maggie credit for that idea - they both mentioned adding more herbs, spices and mushrooms - sounded like a good idea to me!
