Hello everyone!

First, let me say how happy I am that this board is back up. I had finally worked up the courage to post a few things last week and then it went down for days on end. So sad! This new format seems really good though.

Now, on to my question...

Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can buy a really good and durable cookie scoop. I'm talking about the kind that you "scoop" and then squeeze the handles and it pops the dough out of the scoop. I have one that LOOKS good (and I think I paid a fair amount for it at Williams-Sonoma), but even with soft doughs the little "spring-action thingy" on it gets jammed and won't release the dough. Any thoughts?

I've had good luck with my pampered chef cookie scoops. I also love to use them for making melon balls in the summer for pretty summer fruit salads.

Okay, my first post with the NEW board. Lets see how I do...

I have two scoops. The smaller one I use for cookies and such and the larger one I use for meatballs. I think I got them at a Pampered Chef Party. I like them alot although I don't use them that often. :D Ohhhhh, I love it, the smilies are so easy to do here! Just a click

A tip I got from Alton Brown (on Good Eats) is to use commercial ice cream dishers from a restaurant supply company. Because they're made for restaurant use, they're super durable and because you buy them from a resturant supply place, they're cheap! They also come in a wide variety of sizes.

thanks SusanT, I'll check that out too.

I'll third the Pampered Chef recommendation. I think their scoops are very durable. They come in two sizes - I prefer the smaller one, but both of them are great.

Hi,

I would guess that the Pambered Chef Scoops would do just fine, but the scoops I have are not from Papered Chef and they work just fine too.

I can't remember where I bought these scoops I use, but it was at some kitchen shop I'm sure of that.

They are metal, (stainless steel I think,) and they have been working fine for years now. I just used the small one today when I made a batch of cookies to take to a Picnic tomorrow.

I did buy a plastic Scoop once for a cheaper price at a discount store, and that is exactly what I got, a cheaper Scoop that didn't do the job.

Anyway I do recomment stainless steel scoops, I believe they will do a good job for you.

Welcome Tracey! I just noticed that you are a member of our city also.

As the others before me I recommend the Pampered Chef scoops. I have both sizes and love them! They make nice size and uniform cookies also. :D

Thanks Mamasue (and howdy "neighbor") I don't know about you, but it's already getting humid. I just took my dog swimming and now I'm going to hide inside and try to avoid the icky weather :D

GOSH...I've never been to a Pampered Chef party, but from everyone's recs it seems like I'm going to have to find one (and soon :D )

Do you guys like pretty much everything from them, or are there some items that aren't that great?

William's Sonoma has a lot of different size scoops that you can use for cookies.

Tracey,

Check out this thread. I gives a lot of great information on People's Pampered Chef Preferences.

I got my cookie scoop at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I got a cheap plastic model but it seems to work fine. They also have a nicer stainless steal model.

I have all THREE Pampered Chef scoops----yes, they do now have a larger size that is perfect for muffins! And I use all of them. They clean up very well in the dishwasher.

I bought mine at the Kitchen Collection. It's all metal. I think it's a one-inch scoop. I use it for meatballs too. Has worked really well so far.

I got mine from King Arthur's Flour. They were sort of expensive (I thought!) -- about $20 each. But they are VERY NICE, and holding up well! Just another option!

I'll also recommend the Pampered Chef scoops. I have both sizes, and they are perfect for cookies, mini-muffins, meatballs, etc.
