Congratulations Val.
If they are the Mexican Chocolate Crunch Brownies there isn't a recipe (http://www.pillsbury.com/bakeoff/RecipeCollection.aspx) for it. Maybe you can find it but I wasn't able to find one with that title.

We did - they all outed themselves on an older thread. Maybe some folks missed it?

Yes, but the thread title was more of a question, so not everyone might have seen it.

Yes, but the thread title was more of a question, so not everyone might have seen it.

That's good cause I was beginning to think I had imagined it! Not that I don't think it's wonderful and fantastic for all 3 members just worried about my own CRS!:p

just worried about my own CRS!

Huh?

valchemist
11-27-2007, 04:24 PM
thank you! I am very excited/shocked about having been chosen. I have my first newpaper interview in a few days... then, after the first of the year (when the recipe is published on the pillsbury website) I am supposedly going to be getting a bunch of radio/tv interviews which is all very surreal.

we had to submit a home video of ourselves (just for the bakeoff festivities, not for the public). and we also had to get a photo taken at Sears -- that photo I am expecting to be plastered everywhere and I am not happy with how it came out (8 months pg and distracted trying to watch my other two kids so they didn't escape from the photo studio). oh well! a small sacrifice to have a 1 in 100 chance at $1 million, I guess...

thanks again for the well-wishes and interest.

Thanks, everyone, for the well wishes.

Some people were asking about the recipes. They have not been posted yet. I believe that will happen in January, when the voting for "America's Favorite Recipe" starts (it's a $5,000 prize to the recipe with the most online votes).

Maybe the Dallas group could host a klatch that weekend!

Don't worry Susan - you're doing better than I am! I actually posted on the older thread congratulating Val and Stephanie (Schuh hadn't chimed in yet when I posted), but then forgot all about it, and got excited all over again when I read this thread!! :D

I guess I am late for this party.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

There are so many experts here and Val you are so fabulous at baking. Do not worry about being pregnant in the picture. That happened to me too and it worked out great because now we can go back to the magazine and my third thinks it is great she was included even if it was inside mommy. Good luck with everything.... WAY TO GO!!!

so are you saying you were in the bakeoff?? please, do tell! what was your recipe and where was the bakeoff held? what year? guessing about 10 years ago since that's around the age of your youngest (can't recall for sure)?

to answer hollysmom's question, the bakeoff is from april 13-15 in dallas. that would be neat if there was a klatch then. not sure if I could make it with the kids and husband who has to get back to his job, but I would see what I could do. to answer the other question, the baby will be about 3 1/2 months then.

(it's a $5,000 prize to the recipe with the most online votes).

You know how good we all are at online voting! But we'd have to really coordinate our efforts because we'd want to end up with a 3-way tie! :D

Loren

there is only one vote per person. you should pick the one you truly think will win because if you are right and they pick your name, you win $1 million right along with the bake-off winner. (this is their way to get you to try out some of the recipes in your own kitchen, I guess. though of course you could just guess which will win by just looking at the recipes)

Sorry I should have been clearer. My older 2 girls and I were in a gardening magazine, the third was there for the ride.

OMG I've been living under the same rock as Loren... no idea about the 3 esteemed ladies who are finalists in the Bake-Off, nor about Val's third child on the way.

BIG CONGRATULATIONS to you all. Can't wait to watch the Bake off. We really enjoyed it last time; we tivo-d it and DD and I watched it endlessly. VERY COOL!!!!!

Congratulations everyone!!! I did not know that about the online voting either, that someone else will will $1M along with the winner?? Did I read that right??

Also, I was SO excited about possibly having a Dallas Klatch, but then I read it's April 13-15???? Wahhhh....I work for a CPA firm and there is now way of getting off that weekend, or I'd have loved to host!!!!! I don't know that I'd have time to organize, clean and cook and it would have to be in the evening...and blah blah blah...but if someone else does I will try my darndest to be there! :D

Well, I hate to say this... but I withdrew from the Bake-Off this week. Due to a lot of personal things going on right now I was feeling like the Bake-Off was an additional stressor rather than the fun and exciting event it should be. I'm very disappointed but am also feeling relieved- I think it was just the right decision for me at this point in time. Thank you all for being excited for me (and Val and Tracy), though- that makes me feel really good!

The people from Pillsbury were incredibly kind and understanding, and I believe they will fill my slot with an alternate... so maybe it will be someone else we all "know" here on the BB. :) Meantime, I'll be rooting for Val and Tracy!

And Stephanie, double congrats to you for knowing when enough is too much! I'm sure you'll make it again, when your life isn't so busy!

Great job, ladies!!!!!:D
