I heard in the new this morning that the online grocer Webvan is closing. Do or did any of you buy grocieries online? Is or was it a satisfactory experience?

I actually enjoy grocery shopping most of the time and can't imagine someone else picking out produce and meat for me but I'm interested to hear about these services.

I moved to Atlanta last year and was delighted to have access to Webvan. I travel a lot for business and I hated to spend my precious weekend hours buying groceries. I would order my groceries where ever I was and have them delivered on the night that I came home. A couple of months ago, Webvan pulled out of Atlanta and boy was I upset.

While I would recommend the service, you do pay for the convience. I was never upset by the quality of food I purchased, but the prices were a bit higher than the traditional grocery, especially if you were a coupon shopper.

I loved Webvan. I was so sad to have them leave Atlanta. It was so convenient & I never really found that it was too expensive either - I compared prices for a while. Also - it always seemed that they had a special (20$ off or so, not to mention free food products that they were trying to promote.)
I would definitely use them again if they ever came back.
