Hi Everyone,

My FIL's bday is on Thursday and I wanted to make the German-Chocolate Cake from CL complete. I did a search and found more reviews on the German Chocolate Bundt cake. How is the cake from the CL complete? Has anyone tried this...is it good for a bday...does it look impressive?

TIA!

Anita

Hi Luv To Cook!

I was just checking some reviews of recipes on the Bon Appetit website and I noticed some RAVE reviews for German Chocolate Cake Squares. I know this isn't the exact recipe you were asking about, but I thought you might want to check it out anyway. There are more than 20 reviews for it and almost everyone completely loved it. I think there are also a few reviews that offer recs. on substituting applesauce for some of the fat and other suggestions for lightening it (if you're concerned about that -- but then it is for a birthday splurge, right? ;) )

Here's the exact link: http://www.epicurious.com/run/recipe/view?id=4362

If that doesn't work, just go to bonappetit.com and do a search for German Chocolate.

Happy Baking!!

Tracey,

Thanks for the link...I will definitely check it out! My FIL has a history of heart troubles so I will definitely try and lighten it up (cuz I know he will be munching on it all week!).

Thanks!

I made that one for my husbands birthday a few months ago. Everybody LOVED it ! It's very very rich but yummy.

Irene,

Which one did you make...was it the Bon Appetit one or the CL complete one?

Thanks!
