OK...I have been seething for months now and not even sure if I have any recourse...
We had purchased some Ethan Allen dining room chairs when we were first married.
The cushions were flat and I wanted them re-done (fluffier for comfort).
We took them to a local furniture "hospital" as they call themselves.

The guy said they would have to rip off the fabric and so I may as well pick something new. OK, that was fine...I wanted fake leather because our cats have muddy feet and cloth is harder to deal with than fake leather.

He indicated some of the chairs were "loose" and he should tighten them.

fast forward...
we come to pick up the chairs; there is an extra charge for I am not even sure what....the stuffing was never re-done. His wife said "oh, I think he assumed you just wanted new fabric"...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I was so upset and tried to explain to her that there would be NO REASOn to bring in perfectly fine chairs (the cloth was still perfect) except to "poof" them up.
I've been busy and thought I could live with this....but today, I noticed that there are cracks where he professed he needed to "fix" the chairs (I think he split the wood), there is glue that has not been neatly cleaned up....
This "fix it" cost us almost as much as the new chairs did 14 years ago.
I just want to scream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think I can do anything except call him and scream at the idiot...
and share my pain with him...
anyone else???

I would wait a few days to let myself cool down. (Actually I am doing that right now! If I don't, I might say/do what I regret down the line.) My neighbor just made my beautiful tree into a stick!

With the chairs, is there any place to get a second opinion? In the end there's small claims court..sorry you have to deal with this.

OH NO! I feel your pain.:(

OP - Always a good idea to wait to calm down and then plan out the points you want to make. Then definitely call him, tell him your pain, and ask him what he will do to make this "right" with you.

I would definitely call and let him know that you are not satisfied with the job at all and why.
