Just wondering if anyone subscribes to any knitting mag's. I only subscribe to Knitty - and that would make kind of a lame gift since its free :o

I just googled Knitting Magazine, and came up with a couple of titles. Interweave Knits is the only one I recognize, and I think that the skill level of the projects in there is too high for my sister.

Sorry, Lara, I don't currently subscribe to any except knitty myself! I'm may get an Interweave Knits subscription, but don't know for sure. If anything, you could get it for her and she can save the patterns for when she gets better...it may even fuel her fire!

I like Interweave Knits, although I've only ever knit 2 patterns from it. I do enjoy it though. Vogue is a little more fashionable, and some of their patterns out a bit "out there". I've never gotten my hands on any of the others.

I subscribe to Interweave Knits and Vogue Knitting. VK has some patterns that I love and some that I just think "who would wear that?" But they usually have at least two that are called "Very Easy, Very Vogue" and that tend to be pretty mainstream in style, so your sister may like it. Personally, I find more in IK that I want to make, but even in that mag, I think about half the stuff is "ewww."

I liked Interweave but I let my subscription lapse a while ago. I'm thinking of picking it up again. It was rare I found I wanted to knit in Knitters or Vogue.

I too receive Interweave Knits. Although I am by far an expert knitter, I find it helpful and usually like most of the patterns. I find it a great resource and keep my magazines, for future patterns. :)

Cast On is from the Knitting Guild Association (TKGA) and they have decent patterns. I think all of them are hit or miss that you will find a lot of patterns in every issue that you like. Knit Simple is good as well.
