Hi all!

Well, last weekend busted a bit because the conditions at Keystone were bad. Very, very bad. I didn't get to meet up with Gracie's brother unfortunately. I did have the best reaction from one of the kids I coached last year when I saw her at the orientation. She looked up, saw me and immediately stopped playing with her friends and RAN into my arms! :D

Tomorrow is the first true day of coaching. Between myself and my new co-coach we'll start with 9 5 & 6 year olds. That may change by the end of the day but we'll see. One of the ones in my group I had last year and I think he can definitely move up, he's just young.

Sunday I'll be heading for the slopes with co-workers who are visiting from our UK office so I'm excited for that. I'm trying to push them to go to Vail as they are opening massive amounts of terrain on Saturday. Going from 1004 acres open to 3500 acres. Hehe!

So that will be days 6&7 on the mountains. I'll be at 10 minimum by the end of the year. With 4 more months of skiing ahead. :D :D :D

Robyn,

Enjoy your weekend. I hear the mountains should be getting more snow this weekend. We are doing a swim meet weekend. DS is really doing well. He is currently ranked 6th in the state for his age. This meet is a very fast meet though and he is seeded 28th because he is swimming with everyone over 15 (that is usually the case but then they still break it down by age for place and they won't do that at this meet). Still, it will be fun to see how fast he swims.

Other than that, I plan to finish my Christmas shopping to get everything in the mail by Monday. Monday is also DS's 16th birthday so I will be making cookies and cupcakes for him to take to practice.

Wow, congratulations to your son, what an accomplishment to be 6th in the state!

And, yes, it's supposed to snow all weekend in the mountains. :D

I will ...drumroll....NOT be studying:eek: :D

Today I am going to a LYS (yarn store) to spend a gift certificate I've had since September, and then making cookies for gifts for some friends.

Saturday we are going snowshoeing with some friends in Rocky Mountain (national park) and Sunday is my last day from my long hiatus at the official teaching hospital. I think I will veg! Monday I start Cardiology until after the New Year. Have a great weekend!

(Why are only the Coloradoans checking in? Is it because going outside is cold, wet, and windy? )

Do you ever feel like you are swimming upstream? I can't believe how things happen in waves. We go for years with no issues and then bam!

Our oldest cat went out as usual late at night and has not come home. That was three weeks ago. I just go off the phone with the licensing dept. Our second car had a cracked head gasket, after my dh was pushed into driving my dm, insisted on by my dm, for an hour through the worst rain storm in years. We had to donate the car, so now we are down to one car again. That was this week. Last night we realized the furnace wasn't working. This morning dh pushed the reset button and it's working again but he informed me that the oil company will not service it again because of its age. So, we need to look for a new furnace. That was this morning.

Yes, I do feel sorry for myself and family. But on the upside, we are having a Christmas get-together with my bf and her family this Sunday. We are doing our holiday volunteer work Saturday afternoon and I'm playing field hockey on Saturday morning. We still have one good car and heat for the moment. Unfortunatley our other cat misses his companion. I hope that a family is taking very good care of our freind.

I hope this wave is passing and that our life will settle down but there are still other issues that are pressing on us and it may take some time for this to pass. In the meantime, it's one crisis at a time and this is the time of year to focus on others. This, we will concentrate on doing. :)

So far, so good! We went to town, had good dental checkups, ate too much at lunch and bought a Christmas tree!

Unfortunately, Riley the epileptic dog isn't doing well -- acting overmedicated, no coordination, etc. My vet won't touch him, and the neurologist vet hasn't called back yet. :(

We're having 2 Christmas celebrations this year -- DD1 and her partner will be here next weekend, and then it will just be DD2, DH and me on the 25th. Unfortunately, I have no Christmas spirit, yet...

The weather is pretty good, and all in all, we are blessed!

Robyn -- glad you're having snow (and we're not!:p Pretty neat greeting from your last-year's student!:D

Kelly -- enjoy your vegging! Sounds like a great and busy weekend planned!

Laura -- congrats on your son's swimming! We have to get stuff mailed, too -- hopefully by Monday!

DmOrtega (isn't it Delores?) I sure do know about the swimming upstream! This has been the Year of Broken Things! Including health issues! All in all, though, we are better off than most in the things that matter! Sounds like you've got a good handle on where you are, too! Congrats for looking on the bright side!:)

We may get a bit of a storm Sunday night. Not much going on here. DBF is zigging while I am zagging so I won't get to see him til next week. Going to a Christmas party for kids with my daughter and graddaughter on Sunday :)
