There's a good Indian place in Davis Square called Diva. I think it's on Holland (or Highland?).
Small world. I work about a stone's throw from Medford Square. Really, the only two places worth going out of your way for in that area are Chili Garden, a very good Sichuan-style Chinese restaurant (www.chili-garden.com), and Modern Pastry. (I think Modern is located on Salem Street).
The more well-known branch of Modern is the one in the North End. The Medford location has the same amazing Italian pastries -- and I do mean *amazing* -- without the crowds and the parking hassles. You really have to stop by for cannoli.
If you're looking for someplace to have breakfast Sunday morning, there's a place in Ball Square, Somerville (very close to Medford Square) called Sound Bites. I've never gone there for breakfast myself, but I have had their lunch and dinner food, and it's pretty good. I know a lot of people who rave about their breakfast -- I drive by there a lot on Sunday mornings, and the line is usually out the door and half-way down the block (so be prepared to wait.)
Another good breakfast place is the S&S, in Inman Square, Cambridge -- also not too far. If you get there before 10 am, you likely won't have to wait -- after 10, you're going to get a big line.
I also second Rebecca's recommendation for Diva. ALso in Davis Square, there's Redbones, a barbecue place that's pretty good. And JP Licks has really good ice cream.
Enjoy!
