I am hoping someone here can give me an idea, because I just don't have any of my own this Christmas! DD#1 lives in Houston and I would like to give her and her boyfriend a joint gift. I was thinking of maybe tickets to an event or gift card to a local restaurant. They are both 27 and live and work in the Medical Center area. Any ideas?

Would they enjoy the Theatre? The first thing that came to mind is TUTS (http://www.tuts.com/), Theatre Under the Stars. You can pick just one show or a package.

If you're interested in theater tickets, try

www.thehobbycenter.org
www.alleytheater.org
or search for Jones Hall as well

If you're looking for sporting events or concerts -

www.reliantpark.com
www.houstontoyotacenter.com
www.verizonwirelesstheater.com

If you're looking for a really nice restaurant -

Mark's
Vic and Anthony's
The Striphouse
Brennan's of Houston
Tony's
Cafe Annie
Damian's

Still good, but not quite so $$$ -

The Glass Wall
Catalan
America's
Max's Wine Dive ( wine bar with upscale down home food)
Lupe Tortilla's

Okay - that's off the top of my head. If I think of anything else I'll let you know. I'm sure Pony, Doggerham, Beth, and buffygirl, as well as others will chime in with their faves. I think, too, there was a thread not that long ago about Houston restaurants.
Okay - I found the link to the previous thread - there're GREAT restaurants listed.

I'm more familiar w/ restaurants.......I highly suggest the restaurants Terri recommended. I LOVE The Glass Wall (http://www.glasswalltherestaurant.com/), Shade (http://www.shadeheights.com/), and Gravitas. (http://www.gravitasrestaurant.com/) :)

Oops - forgot to pop in and say thanks for your responses. I decided on a GC to Lupe Tortilla's - after perusing some of the links, I decided they would probably like this best. Again, thanks for taking the time to respond and post links.

PS In talking to DD today, she said she really doesn't like the weather there very well. She was quite jealous of the snow with giant flakes we were having here at the time! Me, on the other hand - driving in it and taking 3 times as long to get home from work - was a bit jealous of the Houston weather she described!:D

We loved Lupe's when we lived in the city! As for the weather it's a difficult adjustment for a few years...she may need to come visit you when you have 4' of snow on the ground!;)
