I've noticed that when I empty the dishwasher and if a bowl or cup might be overturned --- sometimes there is a bit of water remaining and it sometimes has sediment left... looks like a bit of sand. I use Electrasol tablets, is it remnants of that or ????

Thanks,

Are you sure it might not be food particles that were re-deposited on the dishes? My old dishwasher use to do that (a 10 year old Maytag). I know that the new dishwashers make that a big feature . . . that they do not redeposit food on other dishes.

Mine does that, too. I have a 7-year old Maytag. Also, the holes in the sprayer arms are partially clogged with mineral deposits (from our hard water). I figure that redeposited food and mineral deposits are both the problem (yes, I run Lime Away thru the dishwasher every few months but the problem never really goes away).

My dishwasher is only a couple of years old but I get that sometimes. I think it's bits of food. One thing you might try is to put vinegar in the detergent container as well as is the rinse aid container, and run the dishwasher on pots & pans. As I understand it, it cleans the dishwasher.

Now if you could solve the problem of clothes coming out of the dryer with what looks like grease spots ...?

I only get that if I have a plastic cup or something that turns over and holds a significant puddle of water. My DWs are new, but I don't think there's any realistic way for a DW to avoid some particles getting into the wash water and getting trapped in an overturned cup or bowl. At least it has been cleaned and sanitized! D I dump the water out in my sink and rinse the item to make sure all the grains are removed and that there is no detergent left behind in the water. I've also learned to load the DW so it happens less often or just wash certain items by hand.

Are you getting the sand like particles without a puddle of water? I've never had that.

Thanks everyone. Good to read that I'm not the only one.

Beth, I only see it when there is some water lef in an overturned cup etc. I don't think I ever see anything on a plate etc, just the sand. food? in water.
