View Full Version : Shoes to go with this dress?

I am hoping to wear this dress for a New Year's Eve party, and with a few more sessions on the spin cycle, I should make it. :D The color in the dress is white not silver. My problem (in addition to the dress being a wee bit small), is I am shoe impaired. Any suggestions? I am tall, but don't mind heels. I would prefer they not be more than 3" though.

great dress!!!

something strappy and sparkly- silver would be great even though the dress is white or sparkly black would be fun.

definitely heels- as high as you can go.

Cute dress!!

I would go with black heels. Feel free to take the dress with you when you go shoe shopping too so the sales people can help you find the perfect pair!

OMG  I've never seen longer arms.

I'd go with black strappy sexy shoes. Really cute dress!

Wow, see I never would have considered a pump. This is why I need help! :)

Awesome dress! That's totally my style.

Definitely black (yes, red or silver would look great...but I'm too practical & wouldn't have a way to wear them again)

Love the pumps that Hollysmom posted!

I was also thinking something strappy. You should totally go flirty, fun & feminine!

See, I wear colored shoes with jeans and neutral tops or plain black or well, you get the idea. LOVE colored shoes with neutral clothes.

I adore these shoes:

If I had ANY excuse, I would get these. They are from Target.

Or these (also Target):

I must be shoe impaired too beacuse I immediately thought sandals (strappy-ish) and everyone else has posted pumps or closed/peep toe! Adorable dress by the way.

I think these are really cute (but very expensive, you could probably find something similar for alot less):

Sorry, I don't know how to post pictures!

Well, since Laura is in very snowy Colorado that may be part of the reason. I love cute shoes but the idea of putting on sandals and walking outside right now is frightening.

Pumps for NYE just doesn't work for me. Nor does that dress say "pumps" to me. The "athletic" cut of the bodice and swingy skirt say light and airy and pumps say old and heavy to me.

So I don't think you are shoe impaired Kristine! I'd do sandals too. Something with some pizazz. I'd wear something for the snow until the coat check where I'd change and check a bag with my "snow shoes" along with my coat until it was time to leave. But that's just me! Pumps may be a tad warmer than sandals, but they'd be just as hard to walk in in snow and ice as sandals would be. Anyway, here are a few of my ideas (but it would all depend on how they look on - some of the cutest shoes on the display look horrible on my legs and feet. So ultimately, I'd have to see them on to know for sure):

Or maybe something like this to pick up the "ring" theme in the skirt (they also have these in silver, but I know you said your dress isn't silver):

These are kinda cool:

I like these too:

And these might look really cool with the "multi rings" like the skirt:

OK. I only made through page 27 of 75 on zappos of their dress sandals. DH is waiting for me to come to bed or I'd keep searching. :) But you get the idea! Have fun shoe shopping and at your party too!!

I'm completely with Grace. It's not like the difference between pumps and strappy sandals are a choice between snow boots and slippers. Both will suck in the snow.

I like all the ones Grace posted. The dress is sexy, pumps not so much.

I always lean towards strappy sandals also with a party dress.

I don't have to deal with extreme weather where I am, so maybe my opinion won't apply. I'd go with the strappy sandal or the more extreme pump if I was you (more pointy toe, higher heel). That to me says party attire, like a more sensible (lower heeled) pump just doesn't.
Of course, you may actually want to be comfortable (crazy, I know). So try on some shoes and see what you like. Have fun. The dress is great!

Grace, the second pair that you posted was similar to what I had in mind. I really won't be outside much -- about the length of a driveway to a house. Thank you everyone for all your suggestions. I will let you know what I find. Laura

Gracie,

I like these shoes, too.

Do you remember the brand so I can locate them myself? or can you link me to the Zappos page where you found them? Pretty please.

Here you go. They are Nine West. I didn't even realize that until now. I tend to love Nine West shoes. These are my favorite of the ones I found the other night (going back and looking at them all again).

Thanx Grace.

Find Me Shoe threads have saved me so much time. This will be my second pair purchased from a CLBB post.

I looked at Zappo's a week ago and never saw these :D

Yes I like these the best, too.
