To make a long story short, it looks like we have narrowed our wedding choice down to Flagstaff. We will be getting married in October 2008, haven't picked an exact date yet. It will be just the two of us, no guests. This is a second marriage for the both of us.

I don't want anything fancy...maybe just a small chapel...someplace in The Historic Downtown area would be nice...while I'm not big on outdoor weddings, toss those suggestions in anyway. I've thought maybe the Observatory...if they have an area for that...or the Arboritum... (we live in the Northwest and know how weather can ruin a day in an instant)

While I know snow could be a factor at that time of year...what are the chances...really. ( I live in the mountains, so know how vauge this question can be)

Okay...let's state planning!!!!

cheers...nancy

I have seen some beautiful outdoor weddings at Little America Hotel in Flagstaff. I don't know that they really have any indoor facilities that would be appropriate, though. In October, it's chilly, but not usually freezing.

I know a lot more areas in Sedona--only 30 minutes away from Flagstaff. Are you sure you don't want to move South just a squidge? :)

I have 'background' in Flag...so would like to stay there. I looked at Little America on the website...it looked so big and fancy. Perhaps they have something small and simple?

Remember, it's just us two...I'm thinking more along the line of showing up in a nice dress, maybe carrying a flower or two, have a few photos taken, and have a small cake afterwards. (hey...cupcakes might work!!! LOL!)

I've always teased that my 'next wedding' would be at a nude beach, so I wouldn't even need to bother getting a dress!!! So the above is 'going all out' for me!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

No ideas here although the one time I did drive thru Flagstaff it had snowed but that was in January...a snowy wedding and photos after would be beautiful!

Congrats!! I grew up in Flagstaff and I think you picked a beautiful place to have your wedding. Have you considered a quick ceremony up at Hart Prairie Lodge at the Snow Bowl. October might be a bit chilly for an outdoor wedding but your backdrop would be beautiful.

There are several Bed and Breakfast's in Flag that would probably have a nice area inside or out in the yard that you could use.

The courthouse downtown used to be in an old building but I think they might have moved. If they haven't moved it would be a cute old building to get married by the justice of the peace.

A lot of people have weddings at the park located between City Hall and the public library. The name of the park has changed several times so I'm not sure what it is called now.

Good Luck!

Thanks JenCooks...I hadn't even thought of Bed and Breakfasts. I've been checking them out, and there are a few really good possibilities.

City Hall is on 211 W. Aspen...I'd have to dig out my map to see if that is DownTown or not.

I did check with the Riordan Mansion, as they have a small chapel in the house. I found out today that they don't rent it out for weddings, so cross that one off the list.

Thanks again for the suggestions. This is giving me a good start. If anyone else thinks of anything, feel free to jump right in...

cheers...nancy
