A co-worker passed along her copy of the newest F&W and I made a batch of the Sweet Potato, Chipotle and Apple Soup last night. Awesome! I think it might be akin to Lorelei's sweet potato chowder, but w/out the beans. DH is hardly a soup fanatic, and he doesn't esp. like pureed soups, but even he thought this was good and tasty.

I didn't bother making the cinnamon tortilla strips (Sun Chips has a cinnamon flavor now, and they were a nice complement.) I think a sprinkle of freshly grated nutmeg would be good, too. Overall, a very flavorful, easy recipe. A nice degree of heat, but not overpowering. Excellent for a cold winter day. It would be a good soup to take to a football-watching party.
