View Full Version : The BB is too big for my screen

The main BB (the listing of all the thread titles) is too big for my screen. Once I go into a post, everything fits on my screen just fine though.

This is not a matter of going up to "view" and simply changing the font size. I tried that. It made it smaller, but still not small enough. And everything was blurry because it was too small or something.

All other webpages on the www fit on my screen just fine. What is the problem?? Anyone else have this problem?

p.s.
I posted this on the tech support page but no one seems to be answering questions over there

Val,

I am having a SIMILAR problem, I think!!!

At the top of the page where you can click on USER CP/REGISTER/CALENDAR/MEMBERS/FAQ/SEARCH/HOME I have to scroll right to see the "HOME" button.

Also, SOME POSTINGS ONLY are WIDER than others, and I have to scroll right to read them. But it's only a few. ???!!!

I, too, have reduced my text size to practically an eye test :) and it didn't solve the problem.

It will be interesting to see what the other BBers say. But otherwise - I am HAVING FUUUUUUUUUN!!!!

I am not having problems with my page fitting the screen, but I have noticed that some of the columns are wider at times. For example, the "rating" column was probably about 2" wide yesterday, but today it is about 1" wide. Teh "thread" column is much wider now too. Not sure why or how, it just depends on the day I guess. Anyone else with similar problems?

I have the same problem and tried out the private message thingy to Gary. My problem is that I'm using MS Explorer 4.0 which is rather quirky. He recommended upgrading to 5.5 (the latest version). Have to jump through a few hoops to do that with my office computer (all downloading is by permission only), so haven't bothered yet. But it is annoying.

So check which version of Explorer you're using (click on the Help drop down menu and select "about Internet Explorer". If it's a 4.x it's worth your while (for other reasons) to upgrade.

Well, I have 5.0 and I have the same problem. The whole page is to big for my screen. However, since this is the FIRST time I've been able to get on to the boards since they went down for a day, I'm not complaing to loudly. My withdrawl pains have been much worse.

I'm also having the same problem, but only with the title page, I have to scroll right if I want to see anything past "views". But the other pages are just fine. I guess I'm really lazy, because now I'm not even making the effor to scroll to the right. I have 4.0 too, but I'm not sure if I should upgrade or not.

To those of you having trouble with your page fitting the screen...check your "screen resolution"...by default, Windows is 800X600...this may need to be increased...right mouse click on the desk top...go to "properties"...open the "settings" tab...this should tell you what your setting is...hope this helps:cool:

gabbyh,

thanks for the suggestion. I checked and it is 800x600.

see, the thing is, if that 800x600 thing had been off, I would be having problems with other web pages too. but it is just the CL bulletin board main page that I am having trouble with.

:(

val,
My husband says it depends on what each specific web page is written for...did you try to change it?

I didn't try to change it because I wasn't sure if changing it would mess up all of the other web pages that fit just fine for me.

I guess I could try it and then change it back if it messes everything else up. but I am at work now so I would have to do it later.

Did anyone figure this out yet? It's too big for my screen, too.
