Happy Week before Christmas!!!:)

We started out with a 2 hour delay this morning due to the icy roads from yesterdays mess. No snow just rain/freezing rain/ice/wind!!!! My MIL lost power so she's been with us for a couple of days.

I did Burn and Sculpt yesterday - working around my husband who was in the basement framing! I may get downstairs for a quick cardio before getting ready for school.

Joanne - how's the back?

Michelle/Valerie - hope everyone's staying warm!! We have pretty chilly weather today - wind chills in the single digits.

Have a great Monday everyone!!!

All OK here, balmy weather, 50 degrees and partly sunny yesterday although the forecast was for rain and wind... they don't get it even close to right sometimes.
I have a pretty laid back week and holiday planned. going to someone else's house for dinner next sunday and then we're free. we have a 5 day holiday & hope to go hiking/skiing/snowshoeing in the Olympics. depnds on weather of course. if it's wet and windy we will think of something else. there are so few hours of daylight this time of year that it makes doing things in the camper kinda tough. I can sleep 12 hours for two nights and then I start getting squirrely. it's a very small camper and not luxury camping. comfortable but very tight quarters if both of us are in at the same time.

I did a Cathe workout one day, 30 treadmill and then High Step Training or Challenge, I forget which one. a good circuit workout. I might have done it once before but didn't remember it. I sunday just treadmill and core.

michelle, keep the wooly socks handy. joanne, hope your back is improving.

Had to get DH his breakfast so he could get off to work. Hope all of you are not buried in snow, sleet, ice! there are times when I hate our weather here, gray and rainy, but we do not often have to deal with much snow and reading about it and seeing pictures makes rain seem not so bad. some years we get slapped with some snow, last year was bad that way, but mostly our winters are pretty benign. ;) On the bright side, shoveling snow is great upper body exercise!

Valerie, wow, 50 degrees, that does sound balmy!! Especially to Michelle I'm sure. ;) We got hit with about 10 inches this weekend. It's supposed to be in the high 30s the rest of the week, so it should start melting a bit. At least not be so icy. Hope the weather cooperates and you can enjoy your holiday.

Charisse, your weather sounds worse than ours! It's still only December, too!

My back is slowly getting better I think. It is improving, for awhile there I thought I was doomed to a life of back pain! :o It's weird, now it's mostly in my hip. I've been doing light workouts - a couple Leslie's and Ellen Barrett's Fat Burning Fusion. I did try Patrick's Hard Work Conditioning yesterday. It was a fun workout, but there were some stuff I just couldn't do. Kind of frustrating because I would have been able to do it a month ago! I'll probably go to the gym at lunch and use the elliptical.

Have a great rest of the week everyone!

Joanne, you are playing it smart by not over doing. You won't lose much ground and by going back slowly and carefully you may be able to pinpoint more closely what caused the problem to begin with. I've concluded my plantar fasciitis was triggered by jumping on one foot so I just jump both at once. I'm not testing the theory yet. maybe you'll be able to tell as you add things back... as you add movements, you will at least know what things don't cause a problem.

Not so balmy today, probably 40 and raining.... there is a certain monotonousness ( if that's a word) to it here.

I'm still getting shocked by our treadmill, and DH is too. at first he thought I was imagining it but now it's happening to him too. the part we need won't be here for a while, all slowed down by the package glut.

did 30 treadmill, 30 elliptical and a core workout yesterday. Not feeling too good today and not sure if I'll do anything physical. feel like I'm coming down with a headcold, exquisite timing, that's for sure. Ugh, I hate headcolds. I haven't had one in a long time but I'm hoping since I am not feeling any worse than this morning.

ugh Valerie - I hope you feel better. Nothing worse than getting sick over the holidays!!!

I haven't done anything for the last 2 days. I've been running around in the eve's like a nut. I missed my hair appt = turns out it was yesterday - not today!!

tomorrow is 1/2 day - thank goodness. I have to get my house in order. Parents and sister arrive on Sunday. Exercise is in the plans tomorrow!!

Have a great day!

I took yesterday off and seem better today. took some antihistamine but it kept me awake half the night. but I don't seem to have the cold symptoms that I had yesterday so that's good. I'll work out today, not sure what. maybe Drillmax? I think so.

I can only take antihistamines during the day - glad you're feeling a little better Valerie - here's hoping it goes away!!!

We're officially on break! Yee haw. I did some wrapping and then dragged myself to the basement. I did BSS3 with Stephanie - completely whipped. My patience with the three boys is growing low (is that even a way to say it?!!) My two and my adopted neighbor child. sigh.

Tomorrow is major cleaning as my parents and sister come on Sunday - Wednesday. I hope to get to Wegman's tomorrow  with EVERYONE else in the world.

Here's wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!!!! I'll be back on Wednesday to check in.:)

I never did go into full headcold mode, just a little very minor congestion that cleared in an hour. what a relief! did normal workouts. Drillmax one day, next day treadmill, elliptical, and coremax. then yesterday treadmill and Power hour. today, not sure but maybe the high step challenge.

we went to a christmas dinner last night and are actually done with official social obligations for the season. pretty light this year. some other things might come up but no other obligatory big dinners. and this one was fine, but I just get so burned out on the holiday hype that I don't want to listen to any more. I guess that makes me a scrooge but the endless "shop shop buy buy not too late, not too late" well, it wears me out and I try to ignore much. Nevertheless, I hope you all have a pleasant and enjoyable holiday and that you're not snowed in by mountainous drifts or sliding around on freezing rain!

I'll continue on this thread since it's already Thursday :) Next week will be our official start of the new year!!

Christmas was wonderful. I'm so lucky that my mom/dad and sister can come and visit. We ate way too much!!!;) and had much wine;) but a great time.

I did workout yesterday - Fat Burning Cardio with Allison. The kickboxing segment felt great to do! Today I did BSS4 with Pam - weight work. I need to squeeze in one more workout tomorrow. We're headed to Jersey on Sat to do Christmas with DH's side of the family. Then we're hosting our New Year's Eve party this year so Monday will be a bit nuts for me!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday:)

Argh! I attempted to do the step premix part of Cathe's Cardio and Weights - I'm into the 3rd cardio set and my calf cramps - bad. I had to stop. Even after walking around/stretching I couldn't continue:mad: I did do the ab section but leg is still sore.

Oh well - I'm making cinnamon rolls to take to Jersey tomorrow - need to stock up on the beverages for our party on Monday.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and safe and Happy New Year!!!:)

* Proudly* I've worked out every day. did the High Step Challenge, Drillmax, and KPC. also treadmill, elliptical including a chapter of coremax.
DH is sick with an upper respiratory thing so I don't know if it's in my immediate future, or if the slight symptoms I had were what he has now. His whole office is down with the same thing though, so I'm worried that my name will be up next. I'm getting in my workouts while I'm feeling Ok. I do NOT workout when sick. I sleep a lot, sip broth & skip workouts til I recover. Dh tries to workout anyway, but this time he was too sick and came back upstairs and said he felt awful with a fever and burning lungs.

charisse, I don't have Cardio & Weights so I don't know if this applies but when Cathe hops on one foot it pulls too much on my calf. I'm don't want to over stress the area so I do two foot hops or do a lite jog to fill the space. those one foot hops really, really pull on my calf muscles, and my calf muscles pull on the plantar fascia and that's what caused the fasciitis IMO. did you get any new workouts from Santa?

Hi all! Valerie, hope the cooties leave you alone!! Have you ever tried Airborne? I swear that it works. Whenever I feel something coming on or I'm around people sneezing and coughing I'll take it for a couple days and I usually don't get sick or I get over it pretty quickly. Awesome job with the workouts!!

Charisse, hope your leg feels better. Have a safe and fun trip to Jersey!

I have to say that although I enjoy the holidays, I'm kind of glad they're over! Too much stress, food, visiting, etc. The kids had a great time and are still off school for another week. They are getting a bit stir crazy, though. DH was supposed to take them to see National Treasure today.

My back is about 90% better. I've worked out the past few days, but can't remember what I did. I did do Patricks Hard Work Conditioning again and was able to do alot more of it than I did last week. I really like that workout. This morning I did Christi Taylor's Totally Hot Cardio. I hate that name, but it's a fun workout. Oh, I did take Tully for a five-mile walk the day after Christmas. By mile four we were both ready to hang it up, but we had no choice but to keep walking to get home! If the weather isn't too bad, I'll try to do it again this weekend.

OK, I have to confess, my eating has been just horrible. So many sweets! I really think I'm addicted to sugar. I've gained about five pounds. :o UGH! I'm vowing to go cold turkey starting tomorrow - no candy, cookies, ice cream. OK, I've said it, now I have to do it, right?? ;)

Any fun New Year's plans? We're going bowling with the kids New Year's Eve afternoon. They have a countdown at 6:00 for the kids. That's all the plans we have right now. DH has to work, so chances are the kids and I will be in the basement watching Dick Clark countdown to midnight! Which is fine with me, I'm not a big new year's fan. If it's like last year I'll fall asleep on the couch and they'll wake me up at five minutes till midnight. When they were younger we could get away with celebrating at 11:00 with the east coast, but they're on to it now!

Hope you all have a wonderful new year with lots of good health and workouts in 2008!

Joanne, glad to see you back and with your back better. Injuries are so annoying especially when you can't figure out why or where the injury came from.
I've eaten a bit more chocolate than I should have but not too bad. I don't have an office to go to and get tempted, and the only cookies I made are biscotti which keep a long time and don't make me feel compelled to eat them rather than see them go to waste. I have had more wine than usual and a couple small glasses of Bailey's irish cream. gosh, that stuff is good and probably the most concentrated source of calories on the planet after chocolate. but mostly I've been good and the jeans aren't any tighter. I'm not a big sweets fan but find that wine and cheese can do just as much damage.
No big new years plans. Used to be such a fun holiday, used to be my favorite one, but it sure has gotten stale and unexciting. we are hoping to go skiing/camping/something depending on how DH recovers and whether I get nailed with the virus. I've had good luck with vitamin c and a litle zinc at thevery very first signs of problems. haven't tried airborne but I may give a try if I start feeling liek I'm coming down with something.
