View Full Version : A big shock!

Hi everyone, remember me? Tiger- I feel like I was on these boards all the time, than I want away and met you all and than fell off the face of the earth! Ha Ha
Let me explain myself. On our CL weekend trip I wasn't feeling myself but I was having too much fun to care. But when I got home I couldn't ignore the fact that I was sick. I couldn't think about food, look at food, or even go on the boards to read about food! Long story short, I'm pregnant. It came as a big shock, a happy shock, but a big one since I was told I would never have anymore children. (I have a 5yr son) I'm very high risk but I'm thinking positive and praying for the best. My last pregnancy I was beddridden for 5 months, spent a month in intensive care, and my son was born early weighing only 2lbs and spent 2 months in intensive care. My doctors told me never to get pregnant again but said it wasn't an issue since there was no way I ever could. ( My grandmother and great-grandmother both died of strokes due to hypertension in pregnancy and I inherited this condition.)
Anyway I'm 10wks pregnant right now. July 31st I'll have surgery to put in a cerclage. I also have an incompentent cervix which needs to stiched up to help hold the pregnancy.
I still can't think about food so that's why you don't see me on the boards. I didn't forget about you guys! The end of June was my birthday and my parents surprised me with a complete set of Stainless All-clad 12 piece cookware set and I haven't been able to enjoy it! I hope to be back and cooking healthy again soon. I miss you all! Patty

Tiger,
I wish the best and will pray for you during the next 9 months! I have always believed that God never gives us more than we can handle so I believe that you will handle this very well. It was difficult for me to get pregnant 2 of the three times I gave birth but no one ever told me not to...please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Oh my gosh! I don't know whether or not to say congratulations as it sounds like the next months will be trying for you...but pregnancy is a wonderful gift of life...so, congratulations! It is thrilling and scary at the same time. We will all be thinking of you, I'm sure.

Best of luck to you...and take care of yourself!

Congratulaltions! I, too, was told to not have a second child after complications with the first. Became pregnant by accident, but what a wonderful young lady that accident is!!

I had to change ob/gyn's as my original doctor would not try to treat me to term. I did not have any trouble at all except spending a week in bed at the end. I truly believe she is a gift from God. I'll be praying for you.

Patty, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I feel connected to you since we are due around the same time. This is my first pregnancy and I am 9 weeks along. I posted about it on the Great Food board, but you say you haven't been over there lately. I know what that is like!! Just reading the titles of some of the posts has made me nauseous. Happily, I am getting a little bit better now.

Anyway, keep your chin up. We are all pulling for you!!

Thanks everyone for your support! I'll take all the prayers and well wishes I can get! I'm really happy about being pregnant I'm going with the thought that every pregnancy is different and I'm thinking postive! I figure it can't be worst than last time!
When I got back on and saw these new boards it felt like I was away longer than a month! When I'm feeling better I'll have to learn how to work all these tricking things!

Val- Congrads! We'll have to compare notes since we'll be in the same stages at the same time! When is your due date?

Hey, Tiger. I think her due date is right around yours - same month (in case she doesn't see this)

thanks, luv2cook. almost didn't see it. I don't check the weekend with CL board much, since I didn't go (unfortunately).

My baby is due on Valentine's Day. The morning sickness is still with me, but it isn't as bad as it has been or as it could be. I am starting to tell people about the baby now. I know it is still a bit early to be announcing it, but I can't seem to keep my trap shut. I am so excited!

Val,
I'm due Feb 5th. Feb 2nd would be a neat birthday 02/02/02!
But I'd be lucky to make it to Jan. Even if I make it to Dec. that would be longer than I did with my son. If I get to 37 weeks they're take out my cerclage and usually you deliver within 48 hrs.
I know what you mean when you say it's hard not to tell everyone. It's all you can think about! And when you're sick all the time you want to explain. Yesterday was my son's birthday party and I told people at that. I'm almost 11 weeks. I've had a ultrasound at 6 weeks and they saw a strong heartbeat which brought me down to a 1% chance of miscarring. ( Actually how I found out I was pregnant was that I had a miscarriage and when they did the UltraSound they found 2 sacks. I was pregnant with twins and had lost one of the babies, but they other looks great)
I just keep thinking about how they say it's good to be sick. And this time I'm not counting on feeling better at 12 weeks. It was 18 weeks with my son. Take care!

Gosh, Tiger. Is this all related to the high blood pressure thing? Wow. seems like a lot of comps just for that one thing? Twins? Who has twins? Which side? How could they safely - from what I know about miscarriage, don't they have to = well, never mind. I'll PM you

Luv to cook,
Sorry to confuse you but yes I have several issues, not just one concern. And this time they've added AMA, which is advanced maternal age, Agggh! AMA is also a reason for twins. (my brother has twins)
Anyway I don't mind answering questions. I love learning about anything and find I ask a lot of questions too.

Tiger-
I'm so happy to hear your news and I will certainly keep you in my prayers. With all the advances in medical technology I'm sure you'll have no problems at all.

Since I've never had children I had a question about the AMA thing. At what age does this become a factor? (I hope you don't mind me asking)

Laden- They consider you AMA (advanced maternial age) if when you deliver the baby you are 35yrs old or older. I'm already 35. Althought I must say I have several pregnant friends right now and they're all older than me.

Lynn- You should talk about me being a baby. When I met you at the CL weekend you could have told me you were 21 and I would have believed you! I know you must get how young you look all the time! ( I hope you got my e-mail messages, I'm still not sure of this whole new board)

What a nice compliment, Patty! Thank you.

Yep, I got your Private Messages - aren't these new boards fun?! I am just now starting to feel like I "know my way around a bit"!!! :)

Keep in touch! I'm thinking of you!

Tiger,

Good to hear from you and great news!!! I've been really busy, but was thinking of you and your cooking group. I saw my SIL a few weeks back and told her all about it. It would be great if we could get her in touch with your sister. They could play tennis and look for cute (single) men!

Keep us posted about the pregnancy. Best wishes to you and your husband!

Lauren:)

Tiger, CONGRATULATIONS. I remember that you
told me in Birmingham that you were bedridden
with your first pregnancy but that your
husband was very helpful and supportive.
Take care of yourself and do whatever
you need to in order to stay healthy!
:)
