Ok, I have been entering recipies into Mastercook and have a question. If the recipe does not say to preheat the oven does that mean you don't have to, or should the oven always be preheated? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/confused.gif

Mastercook is software you can purchase to help manage your recipies. It either comes with a specific cookbook, like Cooking Light, or the one I have has a whole bunch of different books and I added my own for my own recipies. You can purchase the Cooking Light Mastercook from the Cooking Light Store on the website. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Darthchrista, I always assume that if a recipe says, for example, to bake something 30 minutes at 350, that means the oven should be at 350 when I put the pan in, i.e., preheated to 350. Usually, if you're supposed to put the food into an unheated oven and let it heat slowly as the oven heats up, the recipe will specify.

And Christinew, a lot of us here seem to have MasterCook software. I swear by it, and I can hardly remember how I managed without it before I got it. I even print out recipe cards from it, as well as full-sized pages for a loose-leaf notebook. Well, okay, for several notebooks.... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif

By the way, Christinew, should I be reading your name as Christine W, or as Christi New? I've been dying to ask, but a little embarrassed. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

Cheers, Phoebe
